These work for the Peltors only I'm pretty sure.

That's why I came up with my adapters.Our team run with the Sordins and we hated the headband,so had to find a way to put them together. They do slide and lock into the rail,so you can remove the muffs from the helmet in 15 seconds if need be.

Unfortunately radio batteries and dressings do not conform to the helmets curvature, nor do they balance the correct weight of modern NV systems.

If you're going to use precision optics on your helmet, use the correct gear for the job.

I hear what Doc_kristy is saying though... anything you carry on the field is additional weight. The difference is whether it's useful weight, or "dead" weight - the latter having much less use than to simply be a weight.

I'd personally rather carry less weight on me than I need, and having a weight that has a secondary use would be a bonus.

I suppose you could say steel plates act as increased ballistic armor to the back of your head?

I would much rather carry that said item in an accessible location, instead of a pouch on the back of my helmet. If you ever had to use that item, it would compromise the balance of your helmet, causing the entire helmet to pitch fwd due to the 1.5lb NVG resting on your forehead. Think about it. Counterweights are a static addition to your helmet, its purpose is just that. It helps you distribute the weight and balance of your nvg kit so that you can continue to be combat effective. It doesn't need to double as a deck of cards, camera, or a cd player.

Personally I have yet to see the fake one. My guess would be maybe the tailcap, or the circuit board itself.

At first the PVS/504Bs I keep getting issued bugged me, but then you get used to the weight, you just ignore it and not notice it. With what the 14s weigh, I can't believe you people actually bother with counterweights. For comparison, the 504Bs weight about 1 lb. 8oz. according to the info in the case, whereas, based on information I can find, the 14s only weight about 12.4oz.
