however, since we do not play with tear gas in this game, they are merely for the looks factor (which i cant understand who finds them attractive) and grant no real protection, its kinda like wearing a rubber balaclava with (in this case) cheap lenses... so i cant really see how this mask helps at all, unless you are acting out a scene for a movie

Trying to run with a gas mask on is like... trying to run while breathing with a straw as your only source of air.
If you want full face protection like a paintball mask... *cue dramatic pause* ... buy a paintball mask! Ironicaly, that gas mask must have been more expensive than entry level paintball googles. |

So getting shot in the eye isn't reason enough to NOT wear a gas mask? Sure it mighta bounced a few shots towards fleshy bits like his cheeks and chin but when it came to a critical spot like his FREAKING EYEBALL it failed miserably.
Ok so you win, big man. It did offer some protection to his face but it failed when it really needed to protect him. So go ahead if you want "some protection" for your face and then get shot in the eye. This isn't a situation where "some" is better than none. That "some" will give you a false sense of security, so much so that you may not take your face out of the line of fire cuz, "Oh I have a full gas mask on. It covers all of my face! I have nothing to fear! Deeerrrrr!" When it comes to protecting something that you only get 2 of in life, I'd go all out and get the best I can. I'd even recommend replacing goggles regularly as they'll take hits and each successive hit will weaken the visor that little bit more. Last edited by LyquidFyre; August 8th, 2007 at 15:32.. |
