Why not just take your chances and use propane on the stock plastic slide... and then if and when it breaks, buy the metal slide? I mean, if you buy a metal slide, your just going to store the plastic one away for ever and ever, or maybe sell it for 5 bucks? Why not just break it with the 'pane before you "dish out an extra hundred some bucks to buy a new metal slide," (which, for some reason, you suggest doing in your very next sentence...)

I dunno, maybe I'm crazy, but I'm so confused...

Also, what exactly is easier and more convienient about a metal slide?

You bring up a good point. Don't use propane on a plastic slide unless you intend on buying a metal slide right afterwards.

What makes it more conveniant, in my opinion, is that not only is it stronger, and metal (Who doesn't like metal over plastic?) but you can find good Propane anywhere. The propane is also better than Duster (From what I've read, but I may be wrong).

In all, just get a metal slide, it'll last longer.
