I was with the Canadian Contingent last year. IF anyone is looking to go down as a CF member contact myself and we can help out. I would really like to see some of the WARSAW guys to go down. It would be nice to see some fellow countrymen down there even if it was on the other side of the border.

This is a great experience. Loved every minute of it.

Nato is quite similar but I think the gear is better quality, easier to get and less expensive. The West German is probably a little higher in price but I bet you could go with the US for under $500 and pick up everything at one surplus store.

Here is all of my gear, it should be complete. Starting with
Sleeping gear

Cot, Self inflating mattress for cot, Folding Mattress for patrol, Sleeping bag (2 part with extreme winter and summer liners, comp bag), Half Shelter with poles, Half shelter ground sheet

Patrol Gear

8 mags, G36E, Webbing, 65 litre pack, 2 pairs of boots, Shovel, Beret, 2 pairs sealed goggles

Miscellaneous Gear

Cup, mess kit, two canteens, toiletries, ammo, DAB, camo paint w/ mirror, boot polish and brush, Esbit, matches, extra fuel, dead rags, dog tags, water tablets, Fogtech, watch, pocket knife, KFS, paracord, orders, blousing cords, Deutschmarks, gun repair kit.

Comms and Navigation

Sem 35, Sem 52, extra batteries, rite in rain pad, compass, waterproofed maps, light.

Clothing

Gortex suit, 3 uniforms, 2 long underwear with tops, patrol cap, poncho liner, poncho, mesh scarf, carry bags, dry bag, mesh bag, solid scarf, flak vest, 8 tee shirts, 8 underwear, 10 socks, helmet with junk on it, gaiters, gloves, parka with liner, belt and winter camo.

Nice kit, looks like I'm going to need more space for incoming kit

On the bright-side I can go camping with my airsoft kit after I finish.

I know. I had meant to photograph mine for last year and never got around to it....seeing all those pics is just a reminder that I need to jump on top of it for this year.

If you are interested in reading a blow by blow account of the East Wind experience from the perspective of our Canadian Forces unit last year, download and read this PDF file here:

https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=446b0...39A0EF41%21121

It's worth the read.

Indeed it is 95 pages took me almost 6 hrs at work.( yea i know i can read faster but not when trying to hide it from my boss)

I want to go to this event after reading this but the 18+hr drive may disuade me a bit.(rv trip anyone???) I will be looking into it for next year for sure as i have most of the kit except the old ODs.(easily sourceable)
