As for reliability of WE's GBBRs, I can't say much because I've never owned a GBBR from them. However, from personal GBBR experiences, it can be reliable as long as you take care of it. GBBRs do require a lot more maintenance than AEGs. That being said, maintaining a GBBR is very straight-forward compared to AEGs and when something does fail, it is extremely easy to replace. I think the biggest disadvantage for GBBRs is cold weather. It really does kill the performance and gas efficiency. So if you game outdoor during winter, consider an AEG backup.

Although, AEGs for winter is still a better bet, unless your indoors. |

The mags cool down from the inside... unless you have a way to keep the mags at a warm temperature .. warming them will only help for the first few shots.
GBBR suffer significant performance degradation under 10 degrees c .. if you are gassing with propane

You essentially need a secondary chamber. Which I believe the p90 will have

Reliability goes....
Open Chamber, are we talking 0-10k rounds, or 10k+ (by round I mean number of times it was cycle, either manual or gas) Generally speaking, I like to place WE AR-15 Open Chamber in two categories, 1) Regular -Stock WE 2) Premium -RA-Tech Custom As far as my experience goes (some from G39 series) The parts that will break are...
There are some mods STRONGLY suggested to apply regardless whether its Stock or RA-Tech
Rules about GBBR -NEVER EVER EVER USE FORWARD ASSIST, if you have a bb misfeed and you use forward assist hard you can break your nozzle -Treat all jam as double feed in ar-15 (lock your bolt to rear, remove magazine, clear obstruction, then cycle it) -If bolt carrier cycles weirdly when it supposed to lock back, check to see how much side to side play is there on bolt catch (shim it if there is) If you don't fix it, you risk breaking bolt carrier or bolt catch -Clean your gun if you use anything other than duster gas, Propane and Propylene are really dirty What I like about Open-Chamber over AWSS: -> More realistic in looks and function (crisper and higher cyclic rate) -> VSR inner barrel and hop up (doesn't get any better) -> Replacement part readily available, a spare set of conversion kit is essentially cover all the part that would break (some such as innerbarrel-hopup assembly are very unlikely) -> Busted feedlips? Open Chamber mag kit is there as a mean to replace the feedlips. |

@Kullwarrior, Very good point on the misfeed/double feeding. Never ever use forward assist or rack the charging handle (with mag in) in the event of a double or misfeed. Trying to load several BBs in the chamber can easily break the loading nozzle.

I will add this to kullwarrior's great list on open bolt GBBRs:
Always keep the nozzle o-ring well lubed with silicon oil. It is imperative that the nozzle moves freely within the bolt carrier (though it is normal for nozzle to stick in the hop up chamber while the carrier pulls back until the nozzle spring works to pull it out). In my experience, 90% of all jams and misfeeds are caused because the nozzle movement can't keep up with the bolt carrier as it cycles. Every 10 mags, I take out the bolt and add a few drops of oil on the O-ring. Then slam it back in and you're good to go for another 10 mags. It's a 20 second exercise that will save you a lot of headache. Don't use too light of an oil. I find the oil that comes with KWA guns to be the perfect viscosity. It's a bit thicker than grenade oil. Last edited by TPM001; December 1st, 2011 at 15:27.. |

Just wondering, right now do we know if WE is going to release an MP5? If so when? Will it be comparable quality or better quality than the VFC?

Might wanna check this out, just released recently, but not sure if you can get it in Canada quite yet:

I have one if these on the way. It should be here in a week or two. I'm really interested is seeing what the System 7 gbbr is like.
