Yea if you look overseas the prices are like almost free. In Taiwan where VFC's are made, a VFC SCAR or HK416 is around $300~400max.....I would know...

The retailers are here to make money, if you don't like it then start retailing and drop your prices. They will follow suit if they want to stay in business. And since when has anything in Canada cost the same as America?

Canadian prices will never be comparable to US or Asian prices...our market size does not allow this. Has nothing to do with Canadian retailers lowering prices, If they do...they will go out of business because they will never do the volume to make up for the lost margin. Economy of scale...simple as that!

Any retailer will tell you that he wants to sell his product at the MOST competitive prices he can.....but in turn they must do the volume in order to to make up for the reduced margins.. If they don't do the volume they can't keep the doors open. I knew some day that that MBA would pay off....lol

As you can see low demand means less retailers but lower prices, I say that there is high demand in Canada for Airsoft, and not just based on the fact that Wal-Mart and Canadian Tire sell them in every one of their stores. Focusing on "good" models, very few retailers are allowed to import them legally into the country meaning a low supply. Simple demand and supply dictates that low supply leads to high demand. Where there is high demand there will be high prices regardless of volume. As well as the fact that there are naturally few retailers they could easily corner the market and jack up the prices. |

I love it when people who are not in business lecture on topics they have no experience in..... And FYI.."SCALE" applies to many aspects of business.....not just manufacturing as you like to insist. Supply vs Demand is a scale.....Cost vs Production is a scale.....Ability to purchase vs Ability to Sell is a scale.....and so on......look it up "Economies of scale, in microeconomics, refers to the cost advantages that a business obtains due to expansion. There are factors that cause a producer or purchasers average cost per unit to fall as the scale of output or volume is increased. "Economies of scale" is a long run concept and refers to reductions in unit cost"

When it all comes down to it; blame the shitty government and their lame laws. Don't blame the retailers.

let's invent Social Airsoft.
taxpayers would get a$$-raped 23.4% more and the cash would go to a Canadian Social Airsoft Fund that would make sure poor people get their airsoft, and also that would drive Walmart's stuff's prices down, plus it would help employment by creating jobs for administering all this crap. After a while people would demand that be created a Right For Free Airsoft, and the next conservative pm would give CDNStalker the Order Of Canada, Brian McIlmoyle would say it's bad for his health and T7 would ask if it vibrates.

hmmm.... does that mean that in order for the price to drop, they must mass produce it so quick and have so many to arm the world 2 times over? sounds like they need to do what the russians did.... but will quality be the same?
