Gas and HPA. Got rid of my AEGs...

Summer I use the GBBR or HPA, and rest of the days HPA tippy, I still want to enjoy some recoil in the winter...

I switched to AEG simply because I started running out of personal time to do the upkeep and maintenance on GBBR's. It's just easier to pay a gun doc a couple bucks every so often to do the once over on my AEG and call it a day.

I'll probably start going the HPA route for LMG's in the future, and I still have GBB Pistols which can't really be eliminated, but atleast cleaning a pistol once in a while (since it rarely gets used even if taken to a game) is less strenuous than cleaning every single gun every single time.

This isn't a video game. Try just using one gun per game.

Not counting pistolas. As many of those as you want is still kosher.

Running both. I select the tools for the job.

You cannot beat the AEGs on consistency especially throughout the day. This gets important at night time or 24 hour games when you cannot see your BBs anymore without tracers *give yourself away cough* and relied on zero'd sights and lasers to get you by. But muh sewing machine...

GBBRs are great when they work, but becomes iffy especially if you cannot adjust the hop-up easily. Temperature affects the volumetric expansion of propane quite a bit between mid-10s to mid 20s. This is fine for those 30 minute skirmishes, for any skirmish more than 2-3 hour long without the ability to adjust means you'll find yourself readjusting hop and rezeroing rifle on the spot.

I've had both and 99% of the time I play with the AEG. I run AEG's for a number of reasons. They are more accurate, by that i mean that pistons are pretty consistent, while GBB valves will make you fps fluctuate like crazy. price is also an advantage with AEG. ammo capacity is greater with AEG. In big milsims its easier to bring extra batteries than hauling gas cans. There are more that I won't write. However the biggest problem in my area is that we have one tech that can work in GBB rifles which makes the wait when it breaks.

GBB wins my heart in the fun factor. Nothing beats the feeling of firing a full auto GBB SCAR-L

Okay I'm sold, I'll be buying the KWA G36C AEG, G&G C7 AEG, and KJW P226 GBB.

Perhaps in the future if I have more money I'll buy the VFC G36C GBB for a display piece/occasional use; then just bring the AEG Verdon as a backup for failures lol.

Hopefully by this summer I'll be airsofting... my virtual kit purchase is coming together nicely... just bloody expensive lol.

HPA evolved so they are the top dog now for fire power. Once brushless is incorporated into AEG's then things will change again. Unfortunately brushless is lagging to be used as standard components in AEG guns now.

Im quite surprised no one mentioned the GBLS gr15 or the American Airsoft Factory (AAF) EBBs.

Both of these EBBs are quite expensive (PTW territory) and are completely new technologies. They however operate quite realistically. Both have a realistic bolt that moves back n forth, decent recoil, and bolt lock on an empty mag.

GLBS GR15 disassembles similar to a real m4, and actually has a bolt that can be taken out and swapped out for higher/lower power. It however takes 60rd proprietary mags.

The AAF ebb has a less realistic disassembly and bolt thats built into its gearbox. Its major selling point though is that it takes any standard AEG mags, and still retains its bolt lock feature.

Both of these are pretty young products. The first run of GBLS guns had quite a few problems, but it seems with the current line of GR15s, most of the issues have been addressed. I think GBLS is partnered up with PTS for getting these into the USA market. Not sure if they have any plans for Canada. AAF is pretty much unproven so far. I only know of one person who has purchased one, but no review yet.

While I can't recommend jumping on the train right now for either of these products, IMO this is the direction airsoft technology should be heading.

Funny, I have the same basic approach to video games as I do to Airsoft. Obviously not everything can be the same, but the the methodology can easily be translated. For example; I recently started playing PUBG, which is hella fun, but immediately I started playing for tactical advantage. I only wear clothing that blends with the environment, and even though it looks silly I don’t wear shoes because bare feet are quieter, I have certain guns and vehicles I’m drawn to because of effectiveness in certain situations and equipment configurations I find that set a standard of play. Playing competitively and trying to surgically annihilate the other team IS the fun part.
