I imagine I know why it happened.

The bb probably wasn't seated in the chamber, rather, it was sitting just outside the chamber, in the feed tube. was there something obstructing the barrel as well? that would somewhat explain the excess of air pressure coming out the feed tube.

Glad you're allright man, and from now on, I'm going to clear my guns by remote control, hehe.

Eep! Damn, dude... that looks like it was really painful... glad you're okay.

Looks like purple eyeshadow. But, seriously-- you're very lucky you blinked. I'm investing in a good pair of ballistic goggles on my trip to England (if I can find a good pair.)

So has anyone thought that taking the battery out before working on it to clear a jam might keep stuff like this from happening? That and uber meticulas safety habits.

Glad that you are ok Stalker. Damage to an eye can change your life completely. :borg:

Ya, no kidding. My eye cleared up after a couple days, all is good and lesson learned. After working on it a bit, I tried it again and is still wouldn't shoot, so I pointed in a safe direction, upside down, pulled the trigger again and the BB lauched out of the magwell again, this time well away from me. Turned out the barrel WAS plugged with a BB, took some force to get it out. Obviously one woudl be able to see a plug by shining a flashlight in the magwell, but since I installed a Guarder 50% clear sleeve & bucking, I saw a ring of light and a black spot in the middle, figured it was just the nozzle. Yup, got fooled. Gun is shooting fine now.

My finger is my safety. Hehe, good idea though.

Moved and stuck in the Dr's Corner. Hopefully it sticks in the back of some one's head the next time they're working on a gun.

I have a pair of safety glasses I keep in my room, doesn't take any effort to put them on when I handel an AEG. My rule of thumb is, if the battery is in the glasses are on.

Actually, anytime you work on your gun, you should have safety glasses on. EVen if there's no battery in it and you get a "jam" like the piston being stuck back, there's still a chance that it might get "unstuck" albeit a small one. Thus, unleashing the power of the 6mm BB. And oh yeah, I've done this exact same thing before too except it got me right in the leg (point blank). Who knew it would do that?

I agree with Greylocks and Beaver, this should be pinned. Especially seeing as this isn't an isolated incident.

the crazy thing is even when you're used fiddling with guns and AEGs, repsecting the security check like a maniac, you always end up doing something stupid, it's exactly like motorcycles

I hear ya on that, like taking the bike for a run down the street to test out your work, and not bothering to grab your helmet once the bike is ready. Lol, done that a few times!

I did something similar when I got my first M4...

Tore open the box, popped a mag in and plinked a few rounds in full auto, but then the gun jammed due to a dead battery. Easy fix, took the mag out and changed the battery, and not thinking about it, put it on semi and pulled the trigger. The muzzle was pointed at the wall 2 feet away and the bb ricocheted and cracked my brand new laptop screen on the other side of the room behind me...no damage to my eye, but costed me $700.00 to replace the screen.

Lesson learned, I have a pillowcase with 2 pillows in it that I use to ensure my gun is clear now...and my XPS is nowhere near any of my guns anymore.
