Hey, ive got a quick question. Ive got a TM 5.1 magazine with a shooter design hand grip. Sometimes after each shot, my magazine gets loose, if i tug it from underneath, the mag will pull right out.. Sometimes if i fire alot without supporting the mag, it will drop out. Any remedies from you experts?

worn mag catch maybe? Or maybe the SD grip's tolerance is bad that the slide is pushing down on the mag such that the mag catch does not engage?

Ive got a question for you hicapa fans. Im trying to make my gun slide return back to its regular position quicker after firing a shot (ie. faster cycling speed). I know that I can achieve this by making the slide lighter, using a light BBU, removing sights, or drilling holes. Are there any other internal upgrades I can use to make the slide return faster?

Here are my internals:

-IK light weight BBU + piston
-Guarder 150% recoil spring
-Firefly hopup
-Tanio Koba Twist barrel

Lighter slide/slide parts, stronger recoil spring, and recoil buffers. That's it.

If you're using a metal slide replace it with the stock plastic one, and also go with a plastic barrel. I think the one piece non traditional (tilting) style barrel by IK (a barrel that never comes into contact with the slide, so you won't have to worry about metal bashing on plastic) also helps with cycling speed. Not by much, but if you want to get into microseconds then its worth looking into.

Which recoil spring would u suggest? Im using the Guarder 150% with a Shooter's Design metal slide. Im not sure if there is a spring better that can give me faster cycling speeds

why do you want faster cycling speeds? right now it's already cycling faster than you can pull the trigger

What he said.

You want faster cycling speeds than that?
Get into real steel.

  • Lighter blowback unit (Nine Ball Featherweight)
  • Ventilated piston head (Nine Ball Dyna)
  • Shock buffers (Airsoft Surgeon... you should be able to cram in up to 4. Note: this will disable slide lock)
  • Stronger recoil spring (Airsoft Surgeon.)
The Airsoft Surgeon recoil spring set is sold as a "140%" spring, but in my experience, it feels more like 170%.

I built an uberbuild exactly like this... sold it to Tyson before I even got to test it, but he says that the cycling speed is mind blowing. The slide is also a full inch shorter than a Hi-Capa 5.1 slide, and has 7 speed ports milled out of it. The COMPLETE weight of the slide + cocking handle + fully assembled nozzle/blowback unit was lighter than the original Tokyo Marui blowback unit by itself!!!

Hey Brian, how many shock buffers can i put before it disables the slide lock? Also, any drawbacks in using these shock buffers?

I guess ill see if i can source out the AS 170%

Will both of these upgrades produce noticeable decrease in slide cylcing?

As far as I know, there are no drawbacks in using those buffers, aside from you spending the extra few dollars on them. Using the buffers already decreases it noticeably, but I have no idea about the spring, I haven't used AS ones.

Three for sure... and sometimes with two. It depends on your spring set and how much room it has before it short strokes.

Deactivated slide lock and no lunch money

I have plenty in stock.

Yes. Each product on their own will already produce a dramatic effect (with 3x shock buffers. 1x will not be dramatic.)

Heavier recoil springs will consume more gas. Keep this in mind.

I ask again, why? the gun already runs faster than you can, so why spend extra money?

The real question is "why not?"
Why do people mod the shit out of their cars when the posted speed limit on any 400 series highway is only 100 km/h?

lol, Slono.

What's this stuff about speed ports on slide? Does milling out a section of a slide actually make the slide that much lighter?

Also, ILLusion, that high speed build sounds ridiculous. Like it's not something I would ever want to have/own, but I do kinda want to see it in action some day, just for shits and giggles.
