I was referring to that train wreck of a gun in general.

Little project I wanted to do for a while. WIll take picture of the whole gun soon. Found out that using branchs for shadows was much more tricky than I tough.

Airbrushing anyone?
I have noticed that no one has airbrushed using polycarbonate paints from pactra or Tamiya. I just used a badger dual action airbrush to paint a vsr-10 of mine. Unfortunatly i dont own it any more. the first person to see it after being painted would not give it back. I will take some pics on weds of it in action.
On a side note i used textured kryon as a base for the stock which made for a great grip feel. use 3-4 light coats and make sure to rub the gun down before any detailing paint work gets started after the texted paint drys overnight.

Erm, well... There ARE airbrushed guns in this thread... My little baby was... 9 mat clear coats over the paint. Doing digital paint without using airbrush is really, really hard.

Now, if I'm planning to spraypaint (Krylon or die) a VSR-10 clone, but I also want to paint the scope and mount rings, should I mount the scope on the gun and just do it all in one shot, not minding the unpainted spots that will remain on the scope/rings/scope rail? Or should I do each individually, and leave no unpainted spots? Not to be a bother, but say a bipod were to enter the equation...? Paint it or not? Aren't I annoying?

Yes.

Everything you said is up to personal preference. Don't dye your gun though. Use kylon.

Hey Botchbomber, very nice M14! Good to see quality painting, and original painting at that!

lol
I don't mean die as in dye, I mean Krylon or die as in Krylon is the best and safest way to go. Also, thanks for the input everyone, bipod is definitely not getting painted. Still thinking about the scope/rings/blahblahblah. Will probably do them all separately to make sure everything gets painted. If I left unpainted spots on the scope because of the mount rings, they might end up showing if I remove the scope for whatever reason and don't reassemble it exactly as it was before. RATM's suggestion is also a legitimate option. Thanks again.

EDIT: Bipod is DEFINITELY getting painted, Langohr_9mm's gun on page 19 is what convinced me. It looks good with the bipod spraypainted.

why wouldn't you paint the whole gun... bi-pod, scope?? Just put some cotton swabs over the scope lens, and use painters green tape and FULLY cover the scope lenses. Other than that, tape off internal entrys and your good.. thats how I did mine.
