Agreed with Amos. Our team has had a variety of clones. If a CA or RS price tag is a little out of reach, please wait a little longer. You will regret buying a clone once you handle a CA or RS. I've been there, done that... a few times.

From what I hear it seems as if Tokyo Marui is making an AK with a metal body now, don't hold me to that because I cannot guarantee the validity of what I heard, it was just something that I remember someone commenting on. However if it is a true, then you've got yourself a quality AEG with a metal body that puts out a decent 280-285ish FPS. The price of one in Canada though will run somewhere around 4-600. A quick spring swap and maybe a change of one or two other parts to ensure internal durability and longevity and you should be good to go. For extra authenticity toss in an extra 100 dollars and pick yourself up a wood kit to install to give that full real feel.

Ya ill agree with Amos and Boot on this one, your better off with a TM. if your going to go the clone route, go CYMA, as their AKs seem to have a good reputation, but only their AKs. Ive yet to see a TM quit (except ones modded to the tits and thus ruining their reliability) and RS, if you can get one, are probably the sexiest AKs there are.

Wtf?! Dboys the best?! Dboys is UTTER Garbage.
Even the Americans such as the war store refuse to even stock them due to consistant problems and Breakage, and they pretty much stock clones like its free. Do some bloody research before giving advice to new people.

I knew you clone generations would lower the bar, but jesus. Dboys is NOT the standard. TM and CA have ALWAYS been the Standard for Quality. Bar should NEVER lower, Only Raise. Even JG has shown that.

RS, Inokatsu, CA and TM are the Best. End of Story.
RS and Inokatsu tend to be more expensive but are the best replicas, CA and TM are about equal. The benefit of CA is that it comes with a metal body. Personally, the internals are a bit better with TM, and since TM's V3 boxes come reinforced, it doesnt take much to put a heavier spring, sorbo, metal bushings and a metal cylinder head to fully up it. TM V3 can take it. Toss A G&P Metal body on it and your GOOD to go. Solid Externals, Solid Internals.

Cyma is pretty good. For an AK clone that is. Rest of Cyma is garbage. Either way its no TM or CA.

+1 for the TM boosters(plus CA and RS).

If you save up and get a TM you will not be disappointed.

My 10 year old TM AK is still running like new. I wonder how many DBoys and CYMA AK owners will be able to say the same thing in 8 years....

The guy bought it brand new, took it out to one game, had the stock retaining clip snap off (go go cheap pot-metal.) His motor also stripped the pinion gear within under 1000 rounds.

I've read everyone on ASC saying how good these things are... but to be honest.. I don't think many people have ever owned one.. they're just going off of what they've heard other mis-informed people say.

The internals are no better than a stock Kraken, XYT gears, clear plastic air-nozzle, SHITTY fragile piston and a horrible piston head. The only decent thing about this gun is it's got a captive bearing spring guide instead of a solid hunk of plastic like the Kraken does.

I've said this in the past and I'll say it again.

FUCK DBOYS.
for starters i guess a TMak47 would work really well. It will save you quite a bit of money and headache in the long run. I started off with a TM ak47s and now there is pretty nothing TM about the gun besides the plastic imitation wood...and the front end.BUT AGAIN LIKE WHAT EVERYBODY'S SAYING."With a TM you're guaranteed 100% that all quality aftermarket parts will fit without any issues". i'm using alot of KA parts on mine and they fit 100% without wobbles..and did i forget to mention? TM guns tend to retain their value really well if you have the original box and manuals. just my .02

Got my self a TM, the FPS yes is a bit low but it teaches you how to move on the field and get just a little bit closer to your enemy. If you upgrade a spring defniatly put better bushings in. If I am not mistaken TM comes with plastic ones right? Thats what I have been told anyways.

As for it being plastic, who cares! TBH TM plastic looks better than G&G real wood, and the plastic bodies are hard to tell from metal bodies.

And I agree with the bar being lowered statement, its giving people this false sence of what Clone guns are worth...

I'm a TM ak 47 owner as well! I vouch for this with my noobish experience... yes it has low fps but it is accurate and hopefully last long.

All you need to make a stock TM last a buttload longer than any clones is a simple bushing swap from the shitty plastic ones to the metal version for a $20 swap you have yourself a very reliable AEG, To the OP as I said in my previous post if you have the cash then go for one of teh three metioned (VFC, Real Sword, Clasic Army or INOKATSU) you will not be dissapointed if you choos eto cheap out on a Dboys or what ever other clone brands in the end you will spend more money than you would have on a TM or any other AEG metioned above.

*Edit* Just to kep your mind at ease I have a original TM Spetznaz with only a bushing swap since it came out in 91 never had a problem with it, I had a pair one was sold to another local player here and all he did was also a simple bushing swap, and for those who knows and played with me they know that I don't baby any of my active AEGS only the virgins are babied.

I'll add my say, even though it may not matter.

I would rather get a CA than a TM. While the stock 280ish fps may be good for beginners, you will soon learn that not being able to punch through anything thicker than a blade of grass to reach your enemy is very frustrating.

Also, CA's (new ones, anyway) come stock with a metal body, metal hop up, and steel bushings, 3 upgrades you don't have to worry about.

Also Also, if you want a slightly higher ROF and trigger response, you can't use a 9.6v battery in a stock TM, because the internals can't take it (I know from experience). People are always saying how TM internals are reliable, which is most likely true, don't get me wrong, but having to stay on the low voltage and FPS in my mind does not scream "reliable". If you end up swapping the body and internals, you just paid $500 for furniture and a mechbox shell, doesn't seem right to me.
