CANSOF guys have ACOGs, not the Regular Army. On tour a lot of guys buy their own ACOGs in Canada/US or get them off Americans overseas.

Only thing special I know guys have gotten issued is RAS for C8s(3PPCLI unit purchase) and backpacks for Signallers(1PPCLI unit purchase)

I'm not going to argue with this as I've never been deployed so my info is all second hand, but my friend is a reservist going over and said he got issued (with his C9 if that makes a differenece) an EOTECH and an ACOG.

Who's he going over with? ie what unit is he attached to an organization(Battle Group, PRT, etc)

I've just never heard of ACOGs being issued outside of CANSOF. I've seen a few guys get EoTechs for C9s an C7s if theres extras so thats not uncommon.

I'm not saying it's BS just so we're clear here, just wanna know some more info as I've never seen or heard this before.

@AngelusNex: I think your friend is possibly confusing the ELCAN w/ an ACOG. However if he really is getting an issued ACOG indeed post up his outfit if you can, would be interesting to know

Hello !

I have a question : what flash hider is used on the C8. Is it the original M16A1 style (birdcage without centering) or the same as on M4 with only half birdcage ?

I could not find precise infos or pictures on that !

The 3 prong/M16 is only on M16 an M16A1 rifles. On Canadian C7 an C8 rifles you will find the bird cage like on US M16A2/A4 and M4 rifles.

that is a very nice build. looks great. though may i ask why a fellow from finland is building a c8?

Hi

There are several reasons for that :

1) I'm a Cadpat user because it makes you invisible in finnish forest
2) As a consequence, the C7/C8 are sort of natural companions to the Cadpat
3) The C8 is still M16 based so pretty easy to get parts (airsoft)
4) Canadian people are nice...

Not to mention that airsoft players around the world who choose to replicate an armed forces don't necessarily go for their own country. So it's naturual that "somebody" out there would have an interest in Canadian Kit and Equipment

I got one, but I was in the field so I just read it now

(applicable pics soon). For a previous question, the C7/C8 all have the half-bird cage that the M4 has, just without the little suppresor detent on the front
