I'm going with 416 as my first rifle. I'd say if you want to be different, go with something uncommon, but not way rare such that finding parts is impossible. I agree with Danke, the ACR will probably be your best bet at an interesting uncommon gun. A&K will start selling them. Wait a while, probably when you get AV'ed they'll start appearing in the retailers.

UMP? Mags are hard to find though.

AUGs are nice, but not as ergonomic as I thought.

I'm getting rid of mine because I find it uncomfortable.

Why's that? Im a relative newcomer to airsoft, is there trend going away from AEG's? Reason I ask, is Im in Europe right now and will most likely have to sell off all my Guns before I come back.... gonna have to start all over!

As for Rare.... I do like the FN FAL series by King Arms...(Love to get one for myself as a back up!) not sure of the quality though. I've never seen any of their guns in person.

As for GBB's, I have a nice Full metal KSC P226. It isn't a custom pony like some of the others out there, but guys are always commenting on it....?

AEGs are still going to be the predominate choice, but GBBRs are much more realistic, however, gas guns come with gas gun problems and higher investment costs. They are VERY nice, Most if not all airsofters want to own one, but everybody who has a GBBR also owns an AEG for when they encounter gas gun problems.

KA FAL are VERY nice (at least the few I've held) and are a good choice if you want uncommon.

And for your Sig, you don't need a gun that looks different, you need one that preforms different. You sir must have a very nice shooter there then if it's performance makes it stand out from the crowd.

Eskimobob, I advise an AUG, I had one, didn't personally care for the look but now that i sold it i miss it. They are unique yet common enough that they aren't a nightmare to upgrade/replace parts.

After going through several different makes/types of airsoft guns (i.e. SAW, bolt action, AK's, M4's, MP5's, UMP, G36/C, SR25, etc...)...I've settled on the following (for the moment ):

- PTW
- KA FAL Carbine
- WE M4 GBBR
- WE SCAR GBBR
- KSC MP7 GBBR
- bolt action - more of a fiddle project thing
- ICS M4 - more of a loaner, extra backup for other guys at games

The KA FAL Carbine is just awesome. Shoots really sweet and with some very minor tweaking it shoots like a champ. I had/could have had any other AEG...and ditched them all for the KA FAL. Mags are a bit of a pain if you don't have 7.62 mag pouches.

The PTW is awesome. Mechanically it's superb...it's a joy to shoot right up until something fails. Then it's money time to get replacement parts. Once they work reliably...they tend to continue to work reliably. If I were to total it up (not counting mags and trick things like a fancy RAS)...I probably spent less on the PTW than a fully upgraded AEG. Once I got the PTW...the FAL was taken out to every game as a backup...but not used.

The WE M4 GBBRs were more of a fun thing. I've used them for CQB type stuff and they're great. LOADS of fun. Accuracy is fine for CQB...haven't done much field shooting with it. I've gone through multiple thousands of rounds and tanks of propane so far...and everyone who pops by for a visit is bound to unload a couple of mags for fun (and without exception they grin like an idiot after shooting it).

The MP7 GBBR was picked up just for indoor CQB. It's loads of fun too. Gave it it's first work out the other night. 100% fine on function...but I think that it's too small for me. Not sure if this one is a keeper despite the fact that it's solid and shoots great.

The bolt actions are so simplisticly nice. I just like fiddling with them. Not my type of thing though. The ICS AEG takes a distinctive back seat to every else...if the mood struck me I'd give it away for free and not blink and eye.

Important to note though...when heading out to a game, regardless if I decide to use the PTW or the GBBRs...the FAL is always packed and ready to go as the 100% guaranteed to work backup.

Just my $0.02 of these very different airsoft rifles (pistols is a whole different topic).

If you're going to lean towards an AEG...the FAL is a great choice for something that is different from the glut of M4's and AK's out there.

Agree

I have a KA FAL full size... everyone says WTF is that THING when they see it. Most people today are not familiar with the FAL profile...I'ts like an old girlfriend to me... but then I learned to shoot with a LEE ENFIELD... before moving up to the advanced repeating rifle C1A1

Since Tyson tuned my FAL is has become my go to AEG.. Some people think it's too long... but I carried a real one for a number of years before we went to the C7.. and it's familar to me.

2nd in line... VFC AK74 SU .. A geat little gun when I'm not playing a primary shooter role.. compact ... shots well.. nice feel ..

Then there are the GBBR -- M4 and the MP7 as Tyson says.. fun to shoot.. but not moved into a primary role yet.. I'm also on the fence on the MP7.. I think I like the old standby MP5 for CQB..

I'm not sure I really understand the point of wanting something "distinctive" though... I guess it depends on your slant in this activity .. If you want to be an effective player.. get either an AK and M4 or a MP5 for your first gun.. they are cheap , plentyful, and easily re-sold when you want to move on

Same here

After been experimenting on different loadout AEG/GBB I have settled on the following load out combo

my current loadout now consist of my FAL tac carbine with a nade launcher, it shoots like a dream and quite often been mistaken for a sniper or saw depending on the shots received (its stock)

2nd in line will be my G&P SR25, when you want to reach out and touch some one that would be my choice

For striking fear into another player mind I would rely upon my Inokatsu M60 VN or my Inokatsu MK43 they both shoot far, accurate and hard

For CQB I go to my Galil, Glock19 GBB and my G&P shotty they are fun and very reliable

Choice of aeg and gbb depends totally on your style of play and budget, I did buy into th ewhole PTW thing but only to find 4 lemons out of the box therefore I'm completely turned off from them and as for GBBR well I'm very rough on my daily used AEG/gbb so I'll hold off on the gbbr until it's proven to be as reliable as my FAL, SR25 or any other AEG/GBB

Mac-11, n'uff said.

But being TOO original can come at a cost, there might not be as much upgrades, parts or even furniture available for your gun *cough* Famas *cough*

Personally I just like sticking with the armalites, they have a wide variety of aftermarket parts and furniture available.

Honestly getting age verfied is worth it your choice of weapons goes from pretty much junk or ok to anything you wan't .

Get an aeg first as a backup or starter gun that way if your gbb fails you can still play

G36c is really common.. the G36E (full size) is actually fairly rare, I don't think I've ever seen more than two or three at a game at once.

SL-8/SL-9 are also really rare.

I have yet to see an airsoft blunderbus.
