Okay, Very Good I take it then that the cut off lever is siutated inside the gearbox?
|
|
September 20th, 2008, 23:47 | #17 |
Yup. Makes contact with the sector gear (gear that contacts the piston).

lol was this cleaned?
edit: wait, i was thinking of the other thread lawl |

Yes, it was cleaned and I did notice a small hook like protrusion which I assumed interfaced with the sector gear but, as I had outlined earlier, I am not familiar with neither the proper terminology nor the actual components; Was a safe bet on my behalf to rebuild the gearbox according the the V2 video on mechbox.com even though it was not specific to an Armalite unit?

no i meant the thread itself haha

so, was it a good idea to use the mchbox.com V2 video for rebuilding my Armalite gearbox?

Also, Skladfin was talking about the thread I caused a bit of a ruckus in, heh heh... As I mentioned before, if you have any questions or need help with your mechbox, I can help you out in person.

Yes. An armalite mechbox is V2. And there's not much differences to different versions anyway.

The most difficult part for me was aligning the sector gear to that "critical" 1:00 o'clock position; Just how perfect does that actually have to be?

|
September 21st, 2008, 00:45 | #26 |
not that perfect...

September 21st, 2008, 00:54 | #27 |
Okay, that actually makes me feel better since this was my first time putting that gearbox back together

I suppose that my last question would have to be how important is the shimming to overall functionality / performance/
|
|
September 21st, 2008, 01:04 | #29 |
Shimming is INCREDIBLY important; the gears have to mesh perfectly as to ensure they perform at their peak and I think there's something about misaligned teeth causing stress or something; I don't know I use modular gears so I don't have to worry about shimming.
I'm so fucking lazy!

I suppose then someone here needs to kindly explain how to determine / verify whether the shimming was properly performed; Is there a special or particular technique? Thanx.
