It's still supposed to be a prototype, but according to TDI a civilian version is coming out "in 2008" (it looks like the current incarnation of the Kriss, using the Magpul-designed body) [ref] so I guess it's pretty near production.

Amd I guess that makes an airsoft version not a huge surprise, since Magpul was involved (hopefully that also means the airsoft Masada is a bit closer, too).

Actually Magpul has some interesting design evolution pics on their site (including what the Kriss looked like originally, bottom right):

And the Future Weapons episode with the Kriss:

Isn't the kriss the gun that has almost no recoil because all of the force is aimed downwards?

No way, I love the Kriss! I cant wait to add one of these to my collection.

Although, an MP7 would be nice too.

Couple of updates from our friends from MadBull Airsoft. We will be at IWA and rest assured, there will be first hand report on KRISS' model:

This is the photo displayed at Shot Show 2008. Working sample will be available in March 2008. ETA will be this May.

You can also see the non-working model at IWA at Redwolf Airsoft booth.

And JP rifles:

There is no doubt that our convert kits meet JP Rifles' hightest standard. We have one display Airsoft sample at JP's booth and many people can not tell which one is real.

Now, you can buy JP upper receiver and JP front end kits (3 colors). JP lower will be ready in Feb in small quantity. Our maximun production quantity is 10 pcs per day. (each one takes 4 hours CNC)

We are trying very hard to provide JP convert kits for Systema and ICS AEG. Hopefully you can have it in 2008.
update
