Mine used to be a charm (HK & HW), the dual recoil system made very smooth ( even with the upgrade spring) got the guarder upgrades ( recoil, hammer spring and reinforced part 66) until the day the piston system broke and now I cant find the parts for it, so I have 2 MK23 prior to 2005 version laying around broken

see, back in the day, when i started paintball, i didn't listen to the advice of the vets and i ended up buying an entire platform, just to sell it within 6 months. I dont want that to happen with airsoft. thats why im getting an M14, cause its such a good stock gun (that and i have always loved the M14) and thats why im not going to upgrade it off the bat, cause the FAQ and you guys says i should play stock first, so when it comes time to buy a pistol, i still don't know what to do. this thread has told me both: buy a MK23 and upgrade it, for it will shoot well. or dont buy a MK23, cause its nothing but problems and a waste of money. truth be told, if stalker can get his pre 2005 version to work well, i think i should be able to get a 2005 HK HW version to perform almost flawlessly no?

Honestly no idea, but mine in stock form has performed very well, and still after a tightbore was added. Next I'll get a metal slide kit. But seems like latter MK23s suffer all the issues here, one report in the US was that his spring guide broke in half. Was a shitty pot metal one, not the solid steel one I have.

Smart man. 1911s (specifically the WA variety) will last a fuckin' long time, and wont have stupid problems, that can't be remedied.

can you make a KSC USP shoot as well as the MK23? If so, ill just make the USP .45 from COD4 and get a TM MK23 just so i can say that i have one. still though, i would like a realistic blowback MK23. the reason why i love it so much, other than the fact that the SEALS use one and that in the first Splinter Cells games, you had one is that you can cock the hammer back and fire off a bb without the slide moving, just like the real thing. i think that is one of the coolest features about the gun.

EDIT: any idea on my original post? why is the reingorce sear pin cheaper than the simple replacement one?

SEALs often also use the HK USP Tactical since it's based largely on the MK23, and the MK23 was based largely on the original design of the USP in .45cal. Offers same performance, in a smaller package.

Personally I'd go for the Tactical over the standard USP, I guess simply because of the match trigger and threaded barrel (well, real steel anyways, but I don't think you can get a Tactical airsoft USP unless you add parts.)

just to clarify, the 05 MK23 is the one with the single stage recoil system; that is to say there is a spring guide and one spring, whereas the pre 2005 version are more similar to the real steel gun, with the dual spring, recoil system, as in the version that stalker has. is this correct, or was my research in vain?

EDIT: also, any idea with regards to my first post?

yes thats correct. If you're getting the older dual stage, dont expect lots of recoil since the dual stage takes most of the shock so its more accurate.

Is also a lot sloppier recoil. I'll see about taking a pic of my modified spring guide assembly using the parts it came with, improved the recoil, speeds it up a lot and has lasted a long time sd far.

After freezing my ass off in the basement and having cold hands, AND chronying my 340fps G19 (got in the 260fps range), I'll have to retract my "20-22C" I've been testing the MK23 with the 380 kit with. Will have to wait til summer to see if I can actually get much higher than 315fps (stock). Some of the parts in that kit didn't fit in my MK23, the important ones did though (the rocket valve tube thingy, and it's spring), so we'll have to see.
