I heard the tappet problem was with first run G&Ps and was later corrected? At any rate, never had an issue with mine. Solid gun and I love it! EDIT: BTW, positive threads on barrel. Congrats and enjoy your new rifle

Quick Q. On the G&P Armalites, does the dust cover come open when one pulls the charging handle back? a friend of mine said it does, but I don't think so. All Ive ever heard of is TM's, ICS, and Hurricane metal bodies doing this. Any info?

Here's a post regarding 2005 version G&P guns:
http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthr...t=G%26P+tappet 2006-now guns have fixed most of these issues. Tappets are not really a problem for them anymore. And the last G&P gun I had was a Spec-Ops M4 and the charging handle did not open up the dust cover. I worked on the CQB-R, SPR, M4 and they're were all pretty much the same internal-wise. Next to Systema, they are the best out-of-the box guns there are for performance and value.

OK, so I have my baby....its amazing. The metal body is just plain beautiful. Its really solid, the only rattle is the sling mount, but G&P rubber coated it to be quiet. So I get it out of the box, plug in a battery, flick the safety off and squeeze on the trigger.....nothing. I can hear the piston trying to move, but nothing else. Sad I was. I tried multiple batteries with no avail, they were all good and charged, but no shooty . SO I go to the big guns. 8.4V 3300MAH Large type. This has got to work, and it did. This AEG rips, flat out. It was definitely one of the nicest ROF's I have heard stock. However I don't want a battery bag, so I'm investing in a crane stock. Yes I know the pain they can be, but I'm willing to trade that off. Anyway, pics and a written/video review should follow.

What battery were you using that didn't work?
Stock G&Ps are "factory upgraded" if you will; some small batt that can power a stock TM may not be able to crank it (like those 8.4v 600mAh minis). If that was the case you may want to try someone's 9.6v 1500mAh+ or something, which should fit the handguard. Otherwise, yeah, you're looking at the Crane stock or something similar. I went for the PRIME since it'll hold a Large battery.

I was just using an 8.4v 1200mah. The voltage is not really different than the large, save for the fact that the large says "high output" on the wrapper.

Well they're upgraded to around 380fps stock, I know my mini can fire my HK11 (386fps) on full auto, but if the piston stops near its fully pulled back position, the battery cant pull it back from that position.
The crane stock battery is definitely the way to go, G&P motors consume a bit more power than usual, I estimate I could get about 50 mags (68 rounders) out of the 8.4v 2200mah crane battery. |

Also remember that the output of different size packs isn't the same, even if they have the same or similar ratings. i.e., a Large 8.4v 1500mAh has more cranking power than a small 8.4v 1500mAh.
As I suggested before, before going to the Crane stock (if you want to avoid it) try a 9.6v 1700mAh pack, which should fit your handguard.

Im actually a fan of the crane stock. I was going to get a CA M15A4 CQB before this G&P.

There you go then
I know I like mine. Being able to fit a large batt into an M4 is the best of both worlds.

i have a crane on my G&P SR-25K URX and i think it rocks. plenty of power. also, i recommend getting a new hop-up and hop-up rubber because the G&P one sucks. my barrel clip broke exactly the same way.
ive had my baby from 007 for about 5 months and the gearbox has not given me any trouble (except that one time when she jammed on me) and the tappet is still running strong. G&P Pride! |
