CQB + Face Protection = Good

I hate masks, they promote fogging, they impair breathing, they're uncomfortable and interfere with aiming... all in all, I'd rather bleed.

Teeth on the other hand, I don't want knocked out. So I usually have a mouth guard.

Well ... I have been hit in the nose from 6ft away and well only ever hit in
the face twice since I started.. Mostly from not sticking my head out in the
same spot more than twice.. Buying a shemagh though.

i dont usually wear face protection on open fields due to the humidity and imparement on using my elcan, but after yesterday, im thinking of wearing the Neophane thing for cqb, getting a gas shotgun to the ear at point blank makes you reevaluate your priorities lol.

we have an indoor CQB arena in Winnipeg, full face masks are always required. Normally theyre sensei mesh masks paired with tactical helmets (that distinguish teams). even then, getting shot in the face occasionally leaves a welt under the mask, but nothing nearly as bad as what would have happened without.

our CQB is very much like a PC style death match map, Very close quarters, lots of hallways in a maze like configuration and windows all over the place. Very often Ive moved around a corner haphazardly and was standing infront of three rifles pointed at me not 5 feet away. ow

People REALLY have to make an effort to shoot chest or lower. (Obviously if your head is the only target, I have no sympathy for you, that's just part of the game) The problem I have is with people having a full body target and still shooting at or hitting the head. Maybe it's because people are used to looking at people in the eyes, so thats where they shoot...I don't know, it's beyond me. When I cut a corner I do it with my gun pointed low so if I do have to fire super quick or reflexedly shoot because I'm scared like a little girl, I'll most likely hit their legs.

BTW I'm a belaclava/shemagh guy.

S10 respirator modified with ballistic rated lexan.

Doesn't fog, protects the whole face, doesn't impair vision that much.

But it does take some getting used to breathing in, lol

I'd reccomend full fingered gloves...

Last week I nearly broke my finger when some one shot me with a GBB from about 6 inches away :/

Not at all, in fact we spend quite a bit of time training to shoot to center of body mass, and we train people to "up the impact" in the case of "hardened" targets by aiming to the thigh instead of the head. Impacts to the legs are painful without causing injury.

Head shots are viable targets... but only when no other is presented.

We play in close quarters.. where engagements happen at ranges of 30 cm to 10 m, we do not employ mercy rules, and weapons firing to 350 Fps are allowed.

Prudent operators wear full protection including face, hands, and full cover for the limbs. Some people still choose to participate with less, including short sleves, no gloves, and just goggles... they more often than not shed some blood at each session... but it is their choice.

we went paintballing for my friends bday once (yes paintball...ewww, but we were all noobs then and noone had heard of airsoft) he jumped out at me and I fired, caught him on the backside of the palm, which then cratered and sent small chunks of skin and plastic every which way. waaaay not cool.

some ass then shot me pointblank in the calf in the staging area. THE DAMN STAGING AREA.
