+2. I recommended this some time ago, with the hope that airsoft would be given a similar classification as crossbows. Unregistered, unrestricted use, but appears on the back of your PAL for acquisition.

I'd just like to remind everyone that these jerks weren't kids; they were 19 and 20 years old, which means that they COULD have bought guns from us if they had been age verified.

I think age isn't the factor, so much as it is maturity. I've known quite a few minors who would, and in most cases already have, make absolutely wonderful additions to the sport. People as young as 16 can hold a PAL, and I think everyone who plays airsoft, regardless of their age, should go and get one.
If you like airsoft, chances are you're going to enjoy real steel use as well, and having the training for the real thing under your belt will make you a much safer airsofter. |

I smell a Chair Registry Program, and chair/wood detectors at school.

+3 I support the PAL system as the age verification program has its limits and work arounds.

Couple of good arguments against that, though... ID fraud could be a big one, and the fact that making people drive down to the major centres to get verified helps unify the sport and bring people together. |

Happened here in Ottawa yesterday
"By JON WILLING, Sun Media Two teens believed to have had a "soft-air" pellet gun near a west-end high school yesterday won't be charged. A police tactical team and paramedics responded to Ecole secondaire public Deslauriers just after noon. Police received a call that two males possibly had a handgun. The school, located at Viewmount and Chesterton drives, went into lockdown. The teens, ages 15 and 16, were arrested in the school's cafeteria. Police seized a plastic "soft air" gun during the arrests. The device is spring-operated and shoots plastic pellets. No one was reported injured." |

Is a PAL like an FAC or something? Or is it a lesser version?
|
|
February 9th, 2007, 13:56 | #29 |
A PAL is the new version of the FAC, although one version is for non restricted firearms (Long-guns) and the other is for Restricted Firearms (Handguns etc.) Most people that have previously taken the FAC course and have the license will be granted both forms of PAL (generally)
I think this is correct, if not im sure someone will correct me.. |
