Gearboxes don't go from working to not-working simply by changing hands.
Are you sure you have properly compatible and appropriate parts for the gearbox, like battery specifications, wiring, motor alignment and height adjustment, hop unit, and barrel interface, etc.? There are a fair number of ways to get a perfectly functional gearbox spinning into shit because of improper reassembly. When you give someone solely one part to work on, you implicitly state that all other parts that are not present you are fluent with and therefore assume responsibility for post-modification. When I'm given just a gearbox to work on, I assume the person knows how to install it back into the gun properly.

the mechbox was working right when i got it since it was custom built
bartek never tested it or asked to test it. I never touched the gearbox internals at all that is why i pay someone to do the upgrades i just know how to do the rest of the gun and have never had a problem like this before with my other guns and friends guns so the gearbox was installed correctly |

And did you ask Bartek to test it as well?
I'm trying to find rhyme or reason for this thread in the first place. Just from what I'm getting here, you expected above and beyond the call of service. The world of customer service would be delightful if it was like that, however it isn't. Sorry Krooked, but I'm sticking with Manchovie on this one.

I am looking for public mediation and not people siding with one another. I have recieved an reasonable answer from bartek - which is the point of the thread, and I'm are not interested in who's siding with whom here.
I am wanting to make people aware of a bad transaction the same way everyone else does when a deal goes bad. this deal just doesnt happen to involve a sale of an item, but rather a service of an item |

Its great that you are friends with Manchovie and sticking up for him but as the post above explains it and i had a problem and a service done and was told one thing and when the service or time frame dragged on pass the time givin i expect a person to stand up to their mistake and fix it. instead of pushing it till next week and then next week

Krooked, I know we've been on speaking terms for a long time, and although we have had dialogue much longer than I have had with Manchovie... I must say, that based on your input in this thread, I would not put any blame on Manchovie. There seems to be further problems in play for your gearbox beyond Manchovie's control.
I have been in his shoes before, and since then, I have always quoted to all my clients that if I just get the gearbox, I can only claim the gearbox itself can work fine (given that I'm also provided with a pistol grip and motor.) If I'm not provided with a gun, I can provide zero guarantees to the functionality of the gun and is only limited to what other parts of the installation are provided to me. Regardless... from what I've read from this thread so far... for what it's worth: everything said in here could have been solved through private contact. What you did in here was essentially slag him and drag his name through the mud. And for what? As far as I can see, it was for no solid reason. I'd like to see this thread not continue further with the bashing of his name without solid grounds. There ARE situations out there that demand exceptions to the rule, and this looks like one to me based on both your story and his. If this thread continues without any solid evidence, I WILL close it - but will keep it available for viewing for all readers to make their own judgements based on the information provided.

Hey Groombug there is one possibility that you missed. I wonder what make the body is. He said here that its a custom build so there are alot of people to get bodies from.
We've had trouble with CA bodies when using any other manufactures mechbox. Guns like Testtubes on team OOPS here are made of different companies parts and not that it was impossible just a pain in the butt. But you could take his mechbox out, slap it into any of the other bodies we have and it works great. In the CA body there is a screw/washer thing in the back of the mechbox that you can adjust the position of the box itself. And if its not properly aligned the gun will act the same way yours does. I don't know much about manchovie or his abilities to fix/repair guns. But he certianly could have that mechbox running sweet and just because its not sitting right in your gun, could make it fire like crap. My questions are, one you havn't yet stated what kind of gun it is. I assume its a colt by your sig tags, but still would help. Also there are a huge number of things that could be the reason for it not working. Second question is what kind of body do you have? If its a colt, is it a CA? and I can answer your problems right now.

Since you started this topic and now you say it is resolved, could you please post the resolution so that people could draw their own conclusions from this transaction. I'm only asking this because you say that you posted it up as an FYI to the community.

So far I've had Manchovie upgrade one of my guns for me. I went down to ASC, he happened to be there, so I thought why not invest some time in improving the internals of the new AEG I just purchased.
Well the upgrade had some minor problems, initially I had wanted to re-use a supposedly compatible V2 mechbox. Had it from a previous AEG and it was already upgraded. Either way what was supposed to be a simple upgrade turned into an all-night affair. But Manchovie was good enough to let me watch the entire time (which is great as I now don't fear disassembling a gearbox) and although things screwed up was willing to spend the time necessary to get the gun working right. Eventually I went home a little later than anticipated but with my gun working and ready for action (still works great to this day). I wouldn't consider myself a friend of Manchovie's, simply a customer, I found him to be a great gunsmith. Whatever happened with your transaction probably just boils down to lack of clear communication resulting in expectations that could not be guaranteed. Besides the only time he's ever going to want his handiwork to fail is when you're using it against him on the field I hope no complaints like this one make him question his gunsmith service. |
