Compared to the Phantom CIRAS, how good is it?
Is the OD color matched? It come with plastic dummy plate? How "inferior" are the stiching? Is it double stich? Are the pouches made the same way as the Phantom? Our team may purchase a CIRAS real soon. I'd like to know if this is a good deal for us. A vest that cheap would allow us to buy more gear to go along with!

compared to the phantom the fabric and stiching is noticably different, biggest diff is the webbing. i know i could go to hell and back in a phantom, but i dont need that. also stiching is nice, but if i grabbed on to the webbing and yanked like hell i must bust a stitch or two.

Have you tried an Eagle CIRAS? The Phantom doesn't even compare... there's no way I'd take a Phantom to anything other then an airsoft game.

well see a real ciras was meant for actual combat, so yeah, by comparison it wouldnt even be funny.

you can see a slight color difference in the pics, but in real life you dont really see a difference.

Alritey, time for the quick review i promised (finally found time).
First off, the vest does look pretty good. I've taken off a couple of the pouches as their replacements should be here any day now, but I left a few on for effect. This vest was purchased off of ebay for $25US + $60US Shipping (about $100CDN). As far as the colour goes, it's more olive than green. not much more, but noticable. No, it's not shiny. It's just the flash Already pulled the gromit on the map pouch off. Being replaced anyhow. The stiching is pretty good in most places. Some places it could be better, but i don't expect much of a $25 vest. The stiching on the side flaps and velco could be a little better, seeing as they'll see the most use, and the velcro is grippy as hell. The webbing inside is pretty good. pretty standard fare here The flap at the back where the adjustments are made. not much to see here, other than yes, it is adjustable and the quick release works. It comes with soft armour and it is nice and stiff. Pretty standard, so not much to see here. Conclusion: I have yet to play a game in it, but i'll post more after wednesday on how it handles in a game. It does match up pretty good with my cadpat and OD green knee pads (pics to come soon), so no issues appearance wise. basically, this is a decent vest for those short on cash or who want to try out the vest. I would recommend a phantom if you want a little better quality once you decide if you like this vest. Overall it's pretty good and I'm happy with it. |

The smell is also present on anything OD I have ever seen come from EHobby and if its a similar smell febreeze may get rid of it if your lucky. Try washing it if that doesn't work, soak the stuff in some spray nine for at least 24hrs. Fingers crossed and hope it works.

I dont like to post alot, but I am with Wey Ferro on this one.
That stitching isnt going to last you too long ( pending your game play ). If you like the vest and it suits your needs in the field, take it down to a sewing place and probably for $30-$40 bills they can build it up for you. |

Well, it cost me $950US to get an Eagle maritime CIRAS with the pouches. Add another $80US for shipping because I had to order from 3 places to find those damn Eagle Ranger Green pouches and we're looking at something that's over 10X the price for the real deal. If I wasn't so stupid, I would have gotten a replica one also.... maybe not
