well at keystone i used well water and there was no taste. now wether that was because it was well water or because i was thirsty enough that it didnt matter, upon useing it at local games i use distilled bottled water and thats when i started noticing the taste soooo?????
anywho i tried the water trick Gordon reccomened, no dice, i just did the baking soda thing havent found out how that worked yet, but i wasnt sure what proportions to mix so maybe i didnt use enough?? well find out shortly.

fastest way to get rid of the rubber taste is.
step one fill with cold water and insure the water has room to freeze. But will fill the entire water bag. Freeze it, thaw it. About 10 times and then dump it. Make sure the ice gets to freeze on all of the rubber. what it dose is it causes the bag to become porous and let all the rubber residue stain the watter. you might get a rubber taste the first 2 or 3 times but after that its all good watter or Gatorade. the other thing you can do is what i did with my smaller one just straight up use it for Gatorade or propell or powerade I have 2 camel bags ones for water ones for sports drink. |

well the baking soda thing didnt work quite as expected. there still was the rubber tste, just not as prodominante, i dont know if its because i didnt use enough soda, but im moving on to the vinegar trick next, ill let you kno wnext week.

I user tap water at first. Tasted like shit. Now I put blotled water in my camelback and the water is tastles. I don't know about other camelback, but I have a military one and the blader is bacteria retardant and sealed against shits and I never get the plastic taste. The bad taste I had was my tap water.

I used a platypus with no problems, the Israeli brand that ArmyIssue sells is also good to go, at a fraction of the price of a Camelback or Platypus brand,

the best way bar none is just fill it with coke. The acid in coke will strip the left over plastic lube and plasticizer. Fill it with coke for a day (in the fridge or outside doesnt matter) and then rinse it out and your done - period.

i had a bitch getting the tube to feed, i thought it be like syphoning a car, but its hard. Trick is to take of the bite valve.

As for the tube, I use a rifle cleaning kit. you won't believe the crap you'll get out of it on your first pull. Pull it through a few times till it comes clean. You can use whatever you want, I use chunks of paper towel. Reassemble, and enjoy. If you're really having trouble getting the taste out, you can try Polident tablets. Just make sure to leave something open, either the fill hole or bite valve. And unless you like minty water, use the non-flavoured ones

Clean bladder + bottled water = no problem. That, or I don't notice / don't care about any taste.
Heat exhaustion / dehydration sucks. Drink your water even if it tastes rubbery
