My *guess* is that he's actually boresighting his scope. That would also explain the seeming muzzle obstruction, most boresighting arbors go down the muzzle.
(re: his technique, he's chicken-winging too).

The lack of a Magazine is a good hint as well.

It's a boresighting device, not a scope...

To address the original question, there's another setup that uses two scopes - a magnified scope and a red dot. On AR Carbines (m4 etc) usually a red dot on the front/top RIS or a bi-level rail, and a magnified scope (w/ see-thru mount) on the carry handle.
The red dot will line up with the iron sights, giving you all the advantages of the red dot, and you still have the magnified scope for longer range engagements. Or on some full size ARs/SR25s/SPRs/etc, a small red dot mounted on a rail atop the magnified scope's rings (I use this setup on my Match AR). Same idea. You don't wanna engage at close range with a magnified scope, you'd be dead before you properly aquired your target.

But wait -there's more!
Aimpoint released a 3x add-on sight some time ago. It snaps(twists) on behind the aimpoint, giving extra magnification if needed. http://www.aimpoint.com/upload/produ...blad/3XMag.pdf

That dude's hand on the fore grip does not look like it belongs to him. There's no way an arm can twist into that weird position unless he's doublejointed.
Regardless, it looks hella weird.

I am pretty sure its real. No magazine in the gun. I am pretty sure he is using that other scope as a bore sighter since it blocks the whole at the end, and might I add a ghetto bore sighter to! but inventive no the less
