from what the cfc puts into it's "fact sheets" (not legislation themselves, but they must think so) they go by what the gun was "designed" for. if it was designed to be an airsoft gun and was at one time functional, it does not cease to be one as it could be repaired. guns like starter pistols and display only guns that were never designed to fire a projectile are what the law was designed to control. they had no idea about airsoft when they wrote the law and enforcement is either overboard or nonexistant, but nonetheless inconsistant. it is a good idea to treat airsoft guns as if they were real in respect to display and storage and you will have no problems. remember, in canada when in comes to a "perceived threat" to police will usually react swiftly and you may come to regret it. it also stands to reason that if you believe airsoft is "perfectly legal" which it is not, why then shouldn't you go and wave it around in a wal-mart parking lot? sounds ridiculous doesn't it? but you would have to be a moron to do it and it will get you in deep shit.

WRONG! Why doesn't anyone actually READ the law and understand what it says?

http://www.cfc-cafc.gc.ca/info_for-r...replicas_e.asp

"You can keep any replica firearms that you owned on December 1, 1998, when the Firearms Act came into effect. You are not required to get a firearms licence nor are you required to register your replicas."

That sure doesn't sound like an outright ban to me. As for displaying replicas, follow the CFC's advice found on this page:

http://www.cfc-cafc.gc.ca/compliance...ulletin3_e.asp

"The regulations do not set any rules for storing or displaying replicas of antique firearms, or for displaying replicas of non-antique firearms. When storing replicas of non-antique firearms, follow the standards for storing a prohibited device."

Still:

Unverified, New member, searches for "realistic looking" gun, for a very cheap price. Has no intention of using it.

That reeks...

sorry w.k., but you just contradicted yourself. nearly all of the people on these boards have purchased their airsoft guns after jan1/98. the other link says basically it must either be locked up or secured on a display. this does not mean loose on the kitchen table or behind the front door. so then there really are restrictions, aren't there?

"The new law makes a distinction between firearms and other types of weapons. Restricted weapons, prohibited weapons, prohibited devices (including replica firearms), prohibited ammunition, and the parts or components of any of these items must be stored in a securely locked vault, safe or room that was built or adapted for the safe storage of these items."

I’ve been a registered member longer than you, and I bought off this forum long before you had to be “verified”.

People are getting way too off topic. I’m not interested in replica firearms; I’m interested in an Airsoft pistol. It is not a replica firearm even if it is broken and does not work.

I think we've "verified" that this isn't going to get you an airsoft pistol...

Smart ass.

Take it easy.

Your welcome to your opinions but why are you coming in here to this thread causing problems? If you have useful suggestions or answer to my inquiry please by all means post them, other wise keep them to yourself. You are posting nothing constructive and just being disruptive.

Hardly.

That's sound advice, Dr. Derogatory.

It's 2 pages of information that you - yourself - pointed out wasn't useful.

Try a different approach like, say... putting up a WANT ad. (if you are so "very verily verified")

WHOA!!! That's the most useful piece of information here!

S M A R T A S S <--- in case you missed it the first time.

You need to calm down buddy, your getting way to worked up over nothing. Go take a breather or something, clearly the internet message board is not for you.

Clearly you suck at life.

Either way I win, and you still don't have a gun

Actually as I stated I’ve bought air soft products off this website before.

I’m just trying to get suggestions on what is available.

As it stands, you may or may not have bought things before verification came into effect. Regardless, you only RECENTLY decided to get verified (and as such, are currently UNVERIFIED - as per my comment), you have no track record, and you're shopping for guns in the wrong section.

How bout' you:

Step 1: Get verified
Step 2: Post a "want" ad
Step 3: Step in line.

I was just listening to the crickets over here in your thread, and realised you still haven't figured out that you can't shop on ASC outside the Buy/Sell forums, now that verification is in effect (regardless of how much buying/selling you did before).

For the record, I bought and sold on here before verification too. Congratulations. When the server got wiped, pretty much everybody had to build up a new record of sales and purchases.<-- (i'll give you a hint. This part of the discussion has to do with "Credibility")

Trying to do it outside the regulated way isn't going to win you any battles, and doesn't really get you any further ahead of the game.

Why not be a little more patient (seems you've been VERY patient up to this point, will a week or two more hurt?), get that verification sorted out, and just do it the easy way.

Having a date beside your forum name doesn't make you any wiser, does it?

You got a gun before, now you are 18. That means someone really screwed things up in the past.
You would have been 16 in 2003? In Ottawa? Where did you play?

If you played then, you probably went through the system that requires parental permission? You took the time to follow this process, right?

Since you've been here since 2003, you must be familiar with how this site works? That means Search.

Age-verification is just another process. Everyone goes through it. I had to go through it and I'm one of the oldest airsofters in Canada. My age means nothing, it was just a matter of taking some time.

As said, please start by following the new rules? One of those rules involves Display. And buddy, I happen to know what I'm talking about in that department.
Again, and one last time, treat an airsoft handgun like a real handgun; keep it in a locked box at least... "follow the standards for storing a prohibited device."

You're 18 now. A criminal record would really totally screw the rest of your life.

Greylocks, I appreciate your concern. But you seem to be missing the point of this thread. I’m not looking to find guns for sale in this thread, I’m simply asking peoples suggestions on what pistols come metal stock. I’ve used the search feature and problebly know most of them that are available but I might have missed something, or due to my lack of experience overlooked something. I’m just asking for others opinions and suggestions.

Ya’ll need to take it easy and calm down, your all going off on nothing.

Never played and I can not remember when I got the first one, it would have been under the user name "bound for glory" but I was under 18 and there was never any mention of needing to be over 18 to purchase anything.
