But seriously, there is no truly "bio" BB available from anyone anywhere that is actually a bio BB. BB Bastard did a shitload of product testing on this subject, and it's why they never offered anything over a .30 in bio.

Shooting around 480fps with an r hop, I'd be looking at least at a .36g. I'm running 476fps in my bolt gun with an r hop and an AEG barrel and getting hits at 275ft plus. Sure I get the odd flyer, it's still a plastic projectile...a breeze, a piece of grass, just about anything can knock it off course. But for the most part, under controlled conditions, it's really consistent.

After I did the r hop, it did take a little time to settle down. Probably more from the grease having to get to the right places, and that kind of thing. There's always a little bit of an adjustment process. It seems to be the nature of the beast.

I'm still getting rid of my Valken BB's. They were the only 36's I could get around here for a while. Not overly impressed either.

I wonder if I can do some math to calculate if it's possible...

BBs have a diameter of 5.95mm = 0.595cm
Therefore, they have a volume of 0.11 cubic centimeters
The desired mass is 0.4g

Density = m/v = 0.4/0.11 = 3.6364 g/cubic centimeter

That's denser than aluminum... Wonder what the BB's are made of.

That complicates manufacturing. Cores will increase cost and manufacturing time, which wouldn't make sense. Also, if you cut through the BB, you'd hit an iron core, which would kinda kill your rep. I'd say they're doping the compound that they're injecting into the molds with a heavy metal. Probably add something in the compound to neutralize it's effects, or they ground it down to the point where it's considered biodegradable material. And... yup, the biodegradability test they claim (EN13432) allows for certain levels of heavy metals. Humph... I don't call that biodegradable if you're shooting tons of BBs with little bits of heavy metals in a field...

The madbull .40g bbs that I have used (bios) have been magnetic, and seem to have for lack of a better explanation "shiny flakes" which would lead me to conclude that the madbull .40 bio batch that I have is doped with most likly iron.

But would that qualify as a bio bb though? I'm not a fan of shooting bits of mystery metal onto fields that should only take bio. Yes, the claim of testing allows for certain levels of heavy metals, but that's just one test. Is that all that should be needed for them to claim bio?
