Or you could just buy the RAV seperately then buy your own custom pouch configuration, which is what people do, making the item much more affordable.

Heh, I was just going to comment about that particular players choice of kit.

Anywho, Hmm nicest kit I have seen, I think it would have to be a local admin's setup, Malice is his online name iirc, I really like his vest.

As for the oddest, Santa hat all the way, That or the "tactical bunny" another person carries around with them.

with hard plates (which FYI, you'll never be able to get in Canada).
You can get plates in Canada. I carry them.

You're looking at over $800 a pair though for just flat ones, once you get into curved the price goes up.

That was mis-spelled on my part. I meant the action of importing them, from your likely supplier, in the states. That requires an export permit for the plates, per receiver.

Sweet setup on the CIRAS. Any particular reasons you choose the Maritime over the Land version?

Bruce, after running Paraclete and their cumberbund for a year, I decided that I am done with outer cumberbunds. The land version is too complicated a system for me. It seems heavier and bulkier due to the cumberbund and various flaps, especially at the front. The maritime is superior in that respect since it is basically a simple FSBE/BALCS system with a flap on the side and that's it. I also didn't like the way I have to configure pouches with the front flap of the land version. I prefer working around the side flaps instead.

Groombug, I love this thing. With plates, IIIa and pouches, it does start to feel a bit like a turtle shell, but it is solid. Plenty of room for adjustment even for a small size, and certainly very well built. The mesh interior is very nice compared to Paraclete's nylon. It is a little bit on the long side due to the 4 columns of PALs on the side compared to Paraclete's 3, but it's something I can live with. With all the adjustment straps intersecting at the lower back where the release cable holds it all in place, it can get a little bulky there as well. I have a carbine match coming up in October where I plan to wear this rig for the full duration. I'll post some more about it then.

It's a beauty, but I just can't justify the cost at the moment. Perhaps when a few of them hit the used market I'll try one out. How's your mobility in that?

Mobility is excellent for a full armour vest like this with pouches mounted. I got a size small rather than a medium to help in this area. When it is put on snugly, it does not feel like it is getting in the way significantly more than any other vest or chest rig I have used in the past, even though there is at least an inch of extra thickness everywhere due to the armour. The problem I noticed earlier with the extra row of PALs webbing on the bottom does cause the front of the vest to dig in a bit when seated, but at least it doesn't push the vest up into your throat like the IBA does. Having well cut shapes around the arms definitely helps out arm mobility. The only time it affects me is when I try to reach all the way to the other side to open a pouch - but I have configured the pouches so I don't need to do that anyway. It certainly isn't as maneuverable as a IIIa vest and front/back only plate carrier combination that I have used in the past, but for a full vest loaded up, this is surprisingly comfortable and mobile.

Odd Suggestion: A couple months ago Droc brough up the idea of having a Hallow'een airsoft game, and said he'd dress up as a pimp for it. Apoc said that we should dress someone up as the Predator and sneak around the bush running past unsuspecting players as they patrol around. Lol
