I have found that wearing a vest is not a great solution unless you are patrolling with a carbine and your long gun is fixed to your back either via rucksack or drag bag. If I dont plan on carrying a carbine, then I will always favour a webbing style setup with whatever pouches I do need on my hips away from my stomach. What I am carrying and how directly involved I plan on being really dictate the belt/webbing set up I would use. Typically as a sniper, observation and communication are the primary tasks filled, so I have minimal gear. I will often move with the main body to ensure I have protection and then peel off to a forward area once I feel I am safe enough to do so. I have never liked a drag bag, unless I am doing long stalks with minimal patrolling. That being said, I do know guys that use drag bags and like them. For what we do in airsoft, I dont really see the need unless its being used to carry your long gun while you patrol with a carbine/AR because you do not need/have a rucksack, but also dont want to just sling your long.

If I were you, I would look into an H Harness and belt system with whatever pouches you need for what you want/like to carry.

The best thing would be to attend a sniper clinic.

A lot of the real world sniping stuff does not work in the airsoft dynamic environement.

Camoflage must be superior and equipement must be lighter.

In some cases, you need to be very mobiles and in other, very independant.

as for kit. I don't like heavy belts. They turn around and snag when crawling. The best thing is a suspended kit or a webbing. Leaving the hips mostly clear.

Everything must be accessible in the prone position without having to roll around or flare your arms.

Nothing that hasn't already been said, but I use a condor battle belt with an H harness.
It fits really well under my ghillie tog and allows me to lie down comfortably and attach a hydration carrier on the back which is really nice on those really hot days in a ghillie.
It may not work as well for you if your using a full 2 piece ghillie though.
Ultimately the only person using your kit is you, so if your happy with it that's all that's needed. try a few different configurations and find one you like. You may even want different set ups for different game sizes, as I wouldn't say you need a drag bag if your just skirmishing. But to each their own.
One thing thats for sure is if your serious about learning how to play right, you should attend a sniper clinic as soon as it's available.

You may consider a solid chest rig in lieu of a battle belt, as it provides less to snag on when crawling through the brush.

If you can afford it, brands like Mayflower and Head on Tactical produce incredibly solid rigs designed for real world combat

I see no reason for a drag bag in airsoft. Only recently has all this gear been required for a sniper in the real world, and that doesn't translate well to airsoft. You can have your rifle, sidearm, radio, etc all secured in your person, no use for a drag bag slowing you down, making noise and ruining your cover, especially when combat still only takes place at distances which a bb can travel.

Are you saying that Cam must be superior and equipment lighter in airsoft, or in the real world?

Doesnt a sniper in real world situations need to be both of those as well?

We tend to play in highly saturated field (lot of players for a small space).
A lot of field are "cleaned" of obscuring vegetation, especially on paintball field.

So yes, your camoflage must be superior to military needs, since you will engage withing eyeballing distance and encounter player inside 20 feets of your position. They need to walk on top of you and not see you. Military sniper are well camoflaged, but they hide from observation devices and engage beyond 300m... We can barely shoot effectively at 300fts!

If you opt for more mobility, wich make a lot of sence on most fields, you need a light kit that will allow you to run and move easely yet still be independant enough to last long on the field. You need to carry your food, water and ammo. A ghillie suit is not always required in this case, as you will probably act as a combat multiplier embedded in a fireteam.

This also mimic the needs of a real world sniper, as seen in Iraq and Afghanistan. But in airsoft, we do things a little differently.

Before you gear yourself, you need to take into account what are the requirements of the mission, the environement, enemy composition and execution of your mission.

That will dictate if you bring a backpack, just a light rig, a ghillie suit, or whatever.

For the last 4 years, I rarely used my ghillie suit. A LOT of players are not even looking around themself on the field and don't even know what to look for. They just freeze around when shot at, or run randomly for cover. In both case, they are easy picking for snipers.

ok all great suggestions. I already have a ghillie suit for wooded areas, now what would be a good airsoft rifle for sniping, I dont want to spend to much money as I am very limited for that. I would be looking for something that is light, not bulky, needs to be small enough to get in and out of tight spots and durability

If your looking for something cheap, condor is the way to go. Affordable, and in all seriousness, more than solid enough for airsoft.

I dug out my Condor battle belt and tried it on today. For a light set up like yours, I would just wear that. Put a couple fast mags on it and you're golden

There is no cheap airsoft sniper rifle. You need to expect to spend over 500-800$ for your rifle and upgrades. For a real workhose of a rifle, expect it to fall in the 1000$.

If you buy a cheap clone of a clone of a clone, your upgrades parts won't fit well, if at all, and your rifle will suck. Not to mention fall appart in less than a year.
