Here's my thought on your charger. A "plain" intelligent charger is just fine for nimh batteries. Once you move into lipos however, you might as well get a good charger that will handle 7.4, 11.1 or anything else you might use. The thing with airsoft is you usually end up upgrading at some point, whether it be your old gun when it breaks or a whole new gun. Chances are you will at some point move into an 11.1 lipo so you might as well just spend the money once, a decent charger doesn't cost that much anyway. Plus you may find yourself being asked to charge up team mates battery for them or something like that, (I bring my inverter and charger out every game and usually end up charging someones battery).

I ran a cheap lipo charger for a season, so you can get by with one.
The cheap plain ones only charge your batteries, and do a crappy to ok job at it. And thats it. The good ones, charge your batteries perfectly, balance your cells, give you the ability to discharge them when your done. But most of all, prolong the life of your batteries tremendously.
