For my 'Nam gear...

Mags
2 Canteen
Compass
Poncho or Sweater
Etool
Machete
Colt 45.
Bug juice.

That's about it. Not too much room on the standard webbing.
Just got a ChiCom AK chest rig to go with my kit, more mags. That's about it.

For my modern chest rig. I usually just stuff the pouches to make'em look full because I can't afford all this 1337 modern kit yet, heh.

Cherry. I wear them around my neck. I already bought a FireBird. I went down the PX a few days ago and had it delivered to my parents place. Now I've only got 67 and a wake up left to go so I should be cruising around in Beverly Hills with all the hot shot celebrity hippie protesters in no time. I just gotta stay off point, but that should be alright since I pulled the sarge from dink fire a couple times, he owes me.

1 speed loader filled with bbs (sometimes)
some water (usually the bottled stuff)
mulitpliers (free with my Mach 3 razor)
Smokes (I always forget about lighters and have to bum them off ppl)
Face paint (brown only, don't know why)
Barrel plug (cuz you have to have it)

That's about it.
