There is probably viable information out there on the proper steps to become a sharp shooter for Marine Force Recon. Things such as age, sanctioned training, and natural capability. I'd just point him to the Wiki, and tell him that no trained shooter will help him, airsoft is useless in this capacity, and to wait till he's eighteen.

Then stare at him sternly and say; "Where are your parents?".

Oh my friend, your not wrong. He's obviouly isn't educated on the subject.......or possibly at all; and more than a little delusional. If it's a practical joke, it's not a very good one. He doesn't sound like the type of individual you'd want to have an airsoft gun though. Doesn't the USMC have a website or something we could point him to, where he could email an official who could set him straight. At least he'd be annoying someone else. Poor kid, he's probably wired all wrong.

The million dollar question is how old is he? If he's under twelve, that's one thing; but if he's over then he has some type of social disability. I feel bad for him, as these types of fantasies can be harmful if left unattended. Things could end badly as well if he is "practicing stalking" with a ghille suit and what appears to be a realistic looking gun. So unless he's stalking his pet hamster in his mother's living room, he's at risk.

So like I said, is he a child or youth? It could make a big difference on how impressionable he is, or his level of life problem solving skill. I wouldn't spur him on in a negative way, lest he ends up shooting up a movie theater. My concern is he that he obviously has the wherewithal to post this on Kajiji, but can't look up all relevant information about scout snipers or the USMC. Either way, why in earth does he have an Airsoft gun?

... Fine you guys make a valid point but still, when I was that age this is probably something that I wouldn't do. Yes I did make idiot choices/decisions when I was a kid and that's part of growing up but at the same time there is a line, maybe he's toeing it or maybe he's crossed it but IMO could have at least done slightly more research before posting. If he's capable of posting to kijiji or CL then he's perfectly capable enough to google some precursory information beforehand.
