If you want an AR (M4) platform get king arms or a KWA.
If you want a sniper rifle get a tm vsr10 or a classic army m24. Keep in mind you'll have to put hundreds of dollars of upgrades to gain only a "slight" range advantage over a stock aeg. "Sniping" in airsoft is not what most people expect it to be. Play a while and then get a bolt action rifle if you're still interested.
My advice is to set up something in the middle of the two, a DMR type rifle. Basically buy an M16 and put a bipod and scope on it. This way you have the ability to stay back and shoot in semi or switch to full auto if things get hairy.
