Accuracy is more about the internals actually, put a good barrel and hop up and any gun can become "suited" for DMR, but remember a "real" DMR gun is not supposed to be a gun with a 10/12" barrel.
A DMR should have a semi auto gun (at least, full auto is optional) with 14.5 (M4 length) or above (16 or 20"). Example : I've been using an SR25 (7.62x51 semi auto) with a 16" if I recall, great accuracy once modded and the length of the gun (with or without suppressor) never had been a hindrance. |

An assault rifle weighs an average of 3/3.5 kg without accessories but SR25 is not that much heavier than an M4 with a rail system (all equipped mine weighs about 5 kg) and after a few games or playing a bit with it at home you get used to the weight.
For the mags it may not be an issue considering two things : the amount you have and the way you play. I have 4 Pmags (170 rounds, 30 more than the 5.56) and I mostly play real cap game which means I only have 20 round per mag so 80 in total and I don't need to reload much because as a DMR I have a role close to a sniper (difference is : much better rate of fire and I don't rearm everytime I shoot) which means I take my time aiming and only do semi auto. |
