I've had a suppressor on a couple of my AEGs, and it was apparently stupid quiet. Couldn't hear shots in a small CQB environment, from what I was told. Both were stock, one TM MP5, one a CA m4. Not sure if FPS made the difference, or just that it was a stock piston, etc. running. Either way, it'll depend on what you're running.

One of the few AEG that the supressor actually supress something.
Ditto for my E90. It has a really sharp crack without the suppressor. With it, it muffles is substantially.

I've tried putting my supressor on my GBBR, and it does about the same, lessening the muzzle "pop" to a subdued "whump" instead. Not s huge difference, since the majority of the sound comes from the bolt cycling and the gas venting from there, but still makes an audible difference.

But for the most part, most gearboxes will make too much noise for a supressor to effectively suppress the gun

Yeah I can only hear the gearbox there. So coolness wins but suppressing ability doesn't really happen. Thanks guys.

Yeah, suppression is negligible, even with the ones with foam inserts.

I'm wondering if those sorbo pads require any internal modification aside from installing the pad itself.

I would recommend having an actual gun tech install one. (sorbo pad that is)

A bit off topic here, why wouldn't it do anything for a GBBR?...

Same reason it doesn't do anything for a GBB?

Some of you folks are falling into a common trap.

A suppressor quiets the sound down range. Think of it as like a muffler on your car. You can still the engine but a lot of the noise has been removed.

So if you have your ear pressed to the gearbox or right over the breach you won't notice much. It is unlikely you'll be shooting many targets that have their ear that close to the moving parts.

The real world question is if it's worth it. Only you can decide that.

So do you need to modify any of the internals to make a sorbo pad work or is it a drop in modification?

Gotta cut the second tooth off your piston so it doesn't break

And I've built a custom air brake for my M4, all you hear now is the winding of the gears

What Danke said.A+++ I used to think that a suppressor didn't do anything until I lent my Echo 1 SCAR to someone else and he was a few meters away when i noticed I could hardly hear it when he shot it.

I myself have gone the other way and have put on a Noveske fire pig on just cause it sounds cool. My theory is, by the time I shoot my gun and they hear it, I'm hoping to have already hit them.

BA Snipers on the other hand should be quite cause they only have limited shots.
