Is all this really worth the hassle of saving 3-4 BBs per reload? If losing those BBs are going to break the bank, then why are you playing airsoft?

I already stated my stance, and using cheap BBs isn't due to losing a few BBs. My approach has multiple benefits, I just stated a couple.

This is dangerous.

retaining bbs in the hopup would make the gun nearly impossible to make safe.

Removing the magazine and firing the weapon would clear the chamber but there could be 2 more rounds retained in the feed path.

Subsequently if the "unloaded gun" was put down one of those could easily roll into the chamber loading the gun.. when it was believed to be in an unloaded condition.

Is the cost of 3 bbs worth putting all your friends at risk?

it would be easy enough to clear it. just turn the gun up side down and firethe last few bbs out. and take a peek.
i do like the idea of having one of my cheap bbs fire out when the mag is empty, but i would hate to have my last shot miss a target that i could have hit otherwise, and give away a position just in time for a mag change. those cheap bbs are .12s

I've actually gotten kills with them, mind you they were close enough when I ran out of ammo. But, you can at least get kills with those a lot better than you can by dry firing.

The inverted dryfire is second nature for me, The reason why I wanna do it isnt for saving money, I just would rather have those last 3 shots. Your points are all valid though.

Current gas rifles and SMGs waste very few rounds.

I see.. This is why realcap load for AEGs is 33 rounds .. as you loose 3 when you reload.

Standard load is 30 rounds + 3 to feed.

it seems foolish to compromise safety for 3 more rounds.. proper clearing may be second nature for you.. but it is not for the vast majority of people who actually have little or no understanding of how to clear or make safe their guns.

i never really counted my bbs, or shot. i should do this!

i'm going to try the green bbs in the last few, not to save money, but to just know when i'm empty.

Just consider those 3 bbs as the equivalent of pouring one for your "airsoft homies"

the way I clear the gun with the oring retention is by banging the gun onto my palm and usually 2-3 will fall out, then just take a shot to clear the one in the chamber. Take a look into the chamber to confirm and that's it. It's not hard to clear at all.

I'm with Brian on this one. 3 BB's? Are you serious/nuts?

A safe zone should be SAFE. Treat your airsoft with the respect of a real firearm; clear and make safe properly.

and for the love of god, stop pointing your AEGs at my face when you idiots cradle carry your loaded rifle beside me out to the field.
