RC trucks use more than one battery. Now, I'm not sure if the ESCs (basically voltage controller/computer/advanced mosfet) are super careful in distributing the power. I would suspect the possible issues of running batts in parallel would only surface if you totally drain them. Speculation, I admit. Just buy a lipo. Or a large batt.

I think in this 21st century world we live in we have a technological solution to the problem. The solution seems to be lithium polymer batteries.
