If you go G&G id recomend replacing the Piston Head O-ring with a Viton O-ring (there great piston heads if you keep the spring stock or keep to a M110 or less) the pistons are great and already have the second tooth removed so its great for high ROF set ups plus its good grade polycarb. Besides the O-ring The other issue is the trigger contacts, after a good break in they may or may not work on a full trigger pull (seems to vary with different baches of guns). All this fix requires is to split the mech box and lightly crimp the trigger contacts so they make contact when the trigger is fully pulled back. Other than that there solid guns.

Well you're about the 3rd person who mentioned the piston.

however, i am SO green to airsoft right now. Both my gf and i.

Can you maybe direct me to a link of what i need to buy? Im probably going to have to get someone to help me install what i need to, either that or I have some reading to do..

any idea where viton o-rings can be purchased?? besides online.

any regular/local hardware stores carry them..canadian tire, home hardware, rona..any such places i could just walk in to and get a pack???

im also going to be opening up my g&g mp5 mech box and plan to shim it properly, clean it and re grease it with some superlube, and also replace all the o-rings that have a bad seal as i hear that is a major problem on the stock g&g's, then i was just gonna game it till some of the stock parts inside break down before i start upgrading the internals.

You don't really need to buy anything for the gun it self, purchuse one and rock and roll, as long as its the high end version though (8mm bearing gearbox). I have a couple friends with the high end G&G mp5's, one friends mp5 SD6 is chronoing 378 fps bone stock, the compression is amazing. The only real problem with it was the trigger contacts, on a full trigger pull the trigger contacts would break contact with the trigger switch and in turn would stop the gun from firing. It would still fire on a 3/4 pull though so all was not lost...just took a bit of time to get used too. Easy fix for that one, all you gotta do is crimp them a bit tighter (don't go too crazy though) so they make complete contact with the trigger switch when the trigger is pulled back all the way. I do understand that you are new to airsoft, but dont let this scare you off from buying one of the better mp5's out there. Just because this problem happend to one AEG does not mean it will happen to all of them. Just what ever you do, don't 11.1v lipo it cause ull get one full auto trigger pull and good by sector gear :banghead: lol

I get mine from a from a buddy who works in a machine shop, i Don't think they sell them though. Check out any hydrolic pump shops that you have near you. Bring in your complete cylinder set ie piston head complete with piston, cylinder, cylinder head and air nozzle. This way you can fit the O-rings in the shop for both cylinder head and piston head and test which sizes give the best compression with that cylinder set. Some manufactors have different specs on there parts and one brand may work better with a certain sized O-ring than another brand.

Wait and get the vitons, trust me nothing compares. Viton is a very durable material, it can handle high pressures and is very wear resistant. It is used for hydrolic pump O-ring seals that deal with 50,000 P.S.I , Plus Systema uses viton material O-rings for all there O-rings on there PTW's, obviously there up to the task lol.

If your gonna buy the gun, then swap out half the crap, why wouldnt you just buy a CA or a TM and get the WHOLE gun as good quality. Even if you swap out a bunch of internals, the rest of your gun is still low quality.

for some reason i doubt ill be getting the viton o rings, even though id really like to, i cant think of any1 i know or any place to even go and look for them, and to drive around to places with my gun parts and try to find o rings that match...mite be too much hassle, lol

for now ive got the assorted set of black rubber o rings from rona, i believe they are a set for a faucet, hopefully one of the sizes will fit well.

other than that any other brands/types of o rings any1 recommends?? but ones that could be easily found in a local shop?

Had you read the FAQ and numerous stickies plastered throughout this site you would have known that getting AV'ed is the key to that. The AV sections are where the goodies are at

It's only about a 40 minute drive across the 403/QEW to Army Issue Surplus in Port Credit.

Army Issue has lots of goodies to buy. Burrito Boyz is next door. Bank machine is across the street. Can't go wrong with making the drive worth it!

I got a G&G M4, I am happy with it, but replacing the piston head is definitely on the agenda for mine.
