I think he means he put a long barrel on a gun with a non-ported cylinder, is why his range went way down. Anything between 100mm and 400mm needs a ported cylinder, port towards the rear. A semi-common mistake is to put it in with the port to the front, which will drop the power down a LOT.

Would that be a good combo. the full cylinder/455 barrel should match not sure about the bore up part though.
I'll say it again so you can be sure:

YOU DO NOT NEED A BOREUP KIT. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A EXTREMELY LONG BARREL IT'S A USELESS EXPENSE.

I understand the whole bore up is overkill unless extra long barrel. but what is considered extra long? (its just a good deal for the kit versus buying seperately)

If i say get the M4 bore up kit then do an extended barrel. Im just trying to figure out what lengts best suit each cylinder. I can only find stats for stock barrels not bore ups

Typically a bore up kit is only required for inner barrels 590mm and 650mm long. Below that length, use a full non-ported cylinder (as found in the M16, AUG, etc. which are 509mm).

You may be able to buy the space shuttle for a good price, but if you can't use it, why bother?

hahah, gota love technology

So the verdict is with a mp5 anything from 363mm to 455mm just keep the stock cylinder?

(is it worth putting in an aftermarktet cyl/piston/nozzel or no?)

Pretty much, but putting a 455mm long barrel on an MP5 is kinda like Krazy gluing a house fly to a dildo, people will wonder "WHY!?!"

I have a custom cut 330mm inner barrel in my MP5SD that works great, and there is no reason to bother going longer than that. And I got a 20fps increase from the standard 229mm length too.

Regarding adding other parts to it, maybe you should outline why you'd want to based upon what you are looking for. When my MP5A5 shot around 360fps, I only had the spring, spring guide and bushings upgraded, Guarder clear hop up rubber, stock inner barrel, and I could clear 200ft using 0.28g BBs with it easily. Upgrading more than you need sometimes doesn't net you anything in the end except a reduced bank account, sometimes it does net you something worthwhile, other times it just causes more problems than it's worth. Upgraded parts aren't always more reliable than stock parts.

I cracked my old mech box and swapped in a new one., I have to order new 7mm bushings /metal spring guide and was just thinking why not upgrade some more while im at it.

Right now it has a pdi 170% spring i believe (m120 equivalent?)

I would just like to get a bit more range/accuracy out of it.

Even with a 363mm barrel it only extrudes 133mm nothing a short silencer cant hide. It just seems fairly worth while for the added fps/accuracy.

I have read on alot of threads how upgrading cylinders/piston heads is a worth while upgrade so thats what started me on it.

So you just recommend doing bushings/hop-up and barrel?

Would there be any big difference from a 300mm to a 363mm barrel?
Also not sure if its relevant but is there an advantage to finding a silencer that just covers the barrel so the air exits the silencer rather than inside it?

other Q: Systema 6.04 or Mad Bull 6.03

Ya, bushings, hop up rubber and a bit longer inner barrel is all you need, as well as 0.28g BBs. And change out that 170% spring, buy a Modify 100 spring from airsoftparts too, your mechbox will thank you (with a longer inner barrel, should net you 360-370fps, the perfect velocity for BBs with hop up). I had a 150% spring in mine at first, the mechbox cracked up front after about 1000rds. Was only shooting 350fps too.

Already cracked the mech box

I swapped it out for one of those black stronger ones haha so should be safe for a while.

What brand of .28s do you use?

BB Bastards all the way! I've done a lot of testing with them and they are by far the best and most consistant I've used.
