Go grunt. Here's a vid from an outpost in the Afghan mountains a couple of years back:

LiveLeak.com - USA military Engage Al-Qaeda & Taliban Militants

Mix of LWHs and MICHs on these guys, all with the basic Eagle PCs w/cummerbund. You don't need to change your helmet, and PANTAC/FLYYE PCs w/pouches are all in the $130-150 range. Plus they're pretty ubiquitous pieces of kit, meaning they're not "exclusive" to one loadout. If you're agonizing over versatility (both in appearance and function), I think this is the way to go.

And as long as you look tired, dirty, and cranky above all else, you've pretty much nailed it .

Yeah, this was my main problem.

Lol.

Another thing, that video was shaky as hell, they might be EPC's or SPC's.

I'm pretty sure it predates SPCs, but I could be wrong.

I think you should just say fuck it, and go with a "tactical griller" loadout.

Lol yeah.

Again I'm going grunt because I can complete the loadout pretty well. Down to the dog tags in the boots... (My Marine Cadet ones though, not real Marine ones.)
