There's a notch cut out on the firepoint to act as a backup iron sight.

by happy coincedence the sight notch lines up with the front sight with the dot dialed in. I would have thought that they might not have agreed with each other. Somehow I must have gotten the mounting holes just lined up with the barrel axis.
