It comes down to resolution of the impression.

Starting out you want to look the part from across the field.. as you get better you look good from 100 feet.. then 50.. then 5... then you start on the non visual.. right down to the contents of your pocket and reproduction of material culture.. then you are looking at authentic stitching... and textiles.

For most the 50 foot impression is good enough ... and even if you were filming.. it would serve. for others it ain't enough till you could be strip searched and be indistinguishable from a period person.

Starting out use the distance as a guideline as to what needs to be purchased next..

For example its pointless to spend money and time on the contents of web gear pouches if the pouches are not correct.

Hopefully this means a WWII impression is in the works for you Brian...

I have been thinking about it... I have made a couple of purchases.... but the issue is I am conflicted of where to go first.

I'm interested in a Canadian kit... Italian campaign era but the lack of appropriate weapons is a limitation.

I am also interested in a German Impression... but all of the cool gear was pretty much reserved for the SS units... and I won't go there

not much interested in the US stuff.. despite there being the most stuff available in reprogear.

On the German side there is some pretty good stuff for the elite Wehrmacht units....

Well the kit I have purchased so far is some webbing bits.. belt, suspenders , a mess of bren pouches.. a set of keepers...

I'm not one to go half way...

Yes, quite well actually. You can get at least four lo-caps into each pouch.

There is, however, a reproduction Sten bandolier at What Price Glory that holds seven magazines. But at $75 each they're at the bottom of the priority list right now!
