They aren't bad. Truth be told, IMHO, they are more collector pieces than actually gaming guns. They use a lot of proprietary parts in their designs and while they often have a lot of ingenuity in their designs (re: the loading system designed for their WA2000), it often leaves me scratching my head as to why they didn't just use a conventional method instead.

In short, if you buy an Ares, make sure you know the internals well in advance so you are not screwed when it comes time to upgrade or replace parts.

I personally wouldn't take anything by Ares unless it was cross compatible. They are starting to do this now. I believe with their spring AW L96A1 line is being advertised as VSR compatible just to address this issue.

Dboys & Marushin both make spring K98 rifles.

Depends really on quality control. Sometimes you might get utter crap. Othertimes, it could last you a very long time. Nonetheless, accuracy on spring rifles is pretty bad.

For K98 rifles. Tanaka gas rifle has the best accuracy.

Ya, but look at what is it up against (Dboys, etc)

That is like saying for cars, the Smart car is the fastest. Well when your only other option is the Model T, it isn't saying much.

I used to own a Tanaka. It is a great gun, but it gas, and thus is inherently problematic with all those gas related issues.

For the K98, Dboys' version has a shitty hop up and a two-piece inner barrel. Of course accuracy is gonna be shitty...

Ares won't be getting my money if they make a Garand spring. However, as a user pointed out on another forum, their marketing service is known to be shitty so that quote I posted could be wrong. (Let's hope it is).

But ICS Garand is going to be AEG. And to answer the previous question about using one Ares gun for conversion, a Garand wood kit is cheap. It's cheaper building from ground up.

And only the Skorpion-type gearbox fits in the Carbine.

and Sortie, there is gonna be Japanese guns when there is going to be more Japanese re-enactors...

On WW2france, there is make 1/100 of the players that are re-enacting japanese soldiers, and I'm being generous.

And their guns were shitty.

I don't know how terrible the Arisaka is, but they are something like $1600-$1800 landed in Canada. A bit pricey.

Really...last I checked they went for $125 at my Local Gun store, when they are in stock

Granted that was way back in 2006 so I guess its possible they have gone up in value....

Are you refering to the real steel variant? The Tanaka Arisaka doesn't even go for that cheap in Japan, and I'm sure that the RS variant would be worth more than that from a collectors view.
