A well timed assault
is critical in the taking of any objective .. but it has to be co-ordinated and done under suppressing fire ..
The lone wolf charger is less than useless .. a waste of time ammo and energy. As Wilson indicated above... the opposite.. the sit and plink player is the norm in airsoft.. people advance until they get to maximum effective range and begin an "artillery Duel" of attrition... This is mostly due to the fact that there is often no one co-ordinating the attack. Effective infantry tactics stripped down and simplified can work very well for Airsoft games .. but all tactical movement in groups larger than 2 require a co-ordinated command element.

Haha!!! I do it all the time... I dont scream tough... But i get impatient waiting around... So i just get up, start firing to make sure nobody is firing back... And if someone's happen's to, well, firefight... I find it makes the game much more exciting... And somehow more challenging then camping somewhere and waiting for people to show up.... Yeah, I got shot many times, but it also gives me many kills... lol People dont expect that... And besides, it's much harder to hit a running target... lol

Seeing as how I play with a russian team, It is only custom to charge in yelling Urrah!
But really, we only do it as a joke sometimes. Best done with Soviet flag.

No skrim is complete unless there is at least one useless Leroy Jenkins.
Milsims are different though.

I've done more than my share of suicidal rushing! I wouldn't do it in real combat...but it's fun in airsoft!

kamikaze sometimes is part of a assault strategy ... if controlled in a team and used wisely, it can be very effective with some other combination. Of course, it cannot be overdone lol.

when just starting paintball ( round 5 years ago ) since i was the smallest on my team they would send me to flank the other teams base, i feel that a lone wolf berserker if preplanned by your team makes an excellent tactic, because if you don't get them as the other team turns around to shoot you (over 80% of the team will) your teammates can mop em up as they appear out of cover. this tactic has transferred well to airsoft.

Did this tactic after it was me and my teammate remaining, ended up getting mercyed but it was quite amusing.

I've tried it a few times (once a game usually) it has worked well once.. Other times well not so much, I'd either get one kill and then get killed myslef or just get shot mid-run. I don't mind this tactic if your team has your back.
