Beats me. I've never touched/fired one personally. Just sayin' that most of the old WE's were horrible in terms of fit/finish, QC, performance. I have heard that new WE's are getting quite a bit better though... However, a clone is still a clone.

The USP is also painted plastic, again never given me any problems and no it is a gas non-blowback, not a springer. The WE pistols have also given me no problems as of yet and I have found the fit and finish to be excellent. You commented " from my experience with WE, those will make wonderful wall hangers." yet a few posts later you state "Beats me. I've never touched/fired one personally." so I am curious as to your experience with WE. Now to your what crap is this comment, I saw a thread that said post your pistols, be relatively new to this forum, I did not realize it was for the higher-end pistols for that I apologize and will remove the pictures if that is what is required. This isn't a debate thread
about the quality of WE or other manufacturers. It's just a show-off area for your beloved sidearms. If it was the 1911 thread, I would say keep the stock crap out of there, cause that thread is really meant to show off custom builds and upgrades, but this one is fair game IMO.

Fair enough. I suppose I misinterpreted the reason for this thread - I just had a feeling that people were posting what they were really proud of... but, as SAFX mentioned the 1911 thread, I may have confused the two. So, in that sense, Bear, I apologize for being a prick.
Bear, as to the WE-being-crap comment, yes I owned a Socom Gear Wilson Combat CQB Elite (a branded WE 1911 tactical) for a good part of a year. Then I got AV'd and realized that there was so many other pistols I could buy that would save me the headaches of working on them. Now, I am one to tinker with stuff I sort-of understand (like my pistols), and the WE single stackers are basically 10% drop-in-fit compatible with TM Hi-Capa's. The problem with this is that you can't do too many awesome upgrades on one. The other problem I had with my OEM'd WE was extremely poor fit and finish, as well as horrendous gas consumption and efficiency. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the WE design in itself makes for high-cool down/low-performance... neither of which I'm particularly fond of. Oh - and WE's have barrel wobble like there's no tomorrow - my WE is the sole reason that I've come to hate ANY barrel wobble. So, I said "I haven't touched one" because no, I haven't held a WE Desert Warrior specifically, but if their design is somewhat similar to the single stacker I dealt with (and it is - the WE single stack design has not changed according to parts diagrams)... well, to be honest, "ugh" is all I have to say to that one. They do look really nice though........ |

Get AVed. A WE 1911 usually runs about $300 in Canada.
