More or less. CSOR is kind of Spec ops in force to JTF's small unit tactics. They commonly act as back up for JTF missions....but don't say that around any CSOR types....there is very much a big brother -little brother thing between the two units.

Just... no.
If you read that post to *anyone* at CANSOFCOM, including your buddies, they would shake their head as I am now.
If you want me to expand and point out each bit of wrongness let me know, but I'm sure someone else will chime in.

Okay because I'm bored at work I will.
Disclaimer, what I'm about to say is publically available, can be found out by meeting a CANSOF person at a thing, blah blah blah.

Differentish purposes? Absolutely. Roles can easily be determined by seeing what they've publicly been doing.
CSOR "commandos" being more hard ass? Just, no. I don't really know what to say to that. Generally regarded as the tip of the spear? Ditto. How is JTF-2 any less than the tip of the spear? You mean DA? Does foreign military assistance make CSOR less tip-y spear-y? CANSOF guys and gals get to wear their PPCLI, RCR whatever cap badge and tab, and could stand up for their regiment's song at a mess dinner but I don't know what you're getting at, tan beret, CANSOFCOM. Takes all kinds, trades and environmental commands. Airborne Regiment? Again, what the hell?
One thing that pisses people (and me) off is saying JTF-2 deployed somewhere, or CSOR deploed somewhere. They don't. They don't deploy alone. They are deployed in SOTFs with all manners of CANSOF folks, tailored and scaled to the mission. IRTFs, CBRNTFs, or TF Arrowheads, acting as a strategic effect, at home and abroad.

Jesus; it's like his keyboard ran out of vowels.

Tip of the spear; sure just don't forget that just the tip doesn't do much good without the rest of the head and the shaft supporting it.

If you're at the wrong end of it the results will be pretty much the same.

My buddies were all maroon berets I believe, and did a few things in the SSF over many years. From their stories I get basically what I have said, which wasn't much". The few JTF-2 members I have met, all two of them, their descriptions of where and what they have done seemed to differ. Their physique, posture and attitudes seemed to differ as well. Their tattoos (style not military necessarily) differed. The way the talked, etc. This is just, as I said, personal opinion based on my observations and what I have been told by long serving members. I didn't mean any disrespect towards the JTF-2 members, but as I have said, my friends seem.....different.

Surprised no one posted these yet. They're from a while back when they were at KASOTC

Interesting rail. Kinda reminds me of the Remington RAHG
