Great boots. Cheap!

Don't matter why they dropped their prices, probably due to over-stock and that it's a 2012 design, making it a 3 years old.

It's a good deal. $29 from $179, and $23 shipping for one pair, and 25 for 2 pairs.. $52 USD shipped for 1 pair with no duty or taxes.

I paid like $100 CAD for two pairs shipped... I don't think I can find any kind of deal like this for a while for boots. Doubt you can even find this kind of quality from crap-mart or MEC for this price point.

I really think the OP (Cliff) regrets posting this offer in the first place, a lot of people are questioning/complaining way to much. You guys are expecting way to much for a pair of $29 boots.

This is the only mentatlity you guys need.

p.p.s. they fit solid, I wear size 8 converse and they fit fine in size 8.

I dunno about all the waterproof comments but I use sealskinz socks in outdoors, even with my condors that are waterproof I've been in stuff up to my knees so the socks were mandatory. I just purchased another 2 dexshell socks that seem to be rated better than sealskinz for around $80 shipped.

When companies bid for a US Army contract, they have to be able to fill a minimum order, whether they get the contract or not. As a manufacturer, you may go for an open bid, or you may be approached. If you accept the bid, you're handed a list of specs and requirements you must meet or exceed, including end cost per unit.

If your bid moves beyond prototype (but before a final decision on whether to adopt), you must have a full production line (tooling, trained workers) ready to go, and be able to fill a minimum order yesterday.
If you don't get that contract, or an existing contract is not renewed, the USGOV gives no fucks and you have to liquidate your back stock (and hopefully pay off your investment in tooling) on your own.

Usually this means kicking them down to the civilian market at retail markup to recoup as much as possible, but after a certain point, storing back stock starts costing you money and you have to flush it.
If that's 20000 units of a product your typical customer base isn't interested in (these boots), or in colours that look like different kinds of vomit (the Propper sales), you have to be really aggressive with those prices.

Getting a US ARMY contract can make a business, but it's broken 100x more. It is a the very highest and crushing craps table the world has ever seen.

Recommending boot brands? I don't. Brands can be really inconsistent between lines and price points.
You've really got to look for features you want, set a budget, and then compare the the competitors in that range.
I can't give you good specific advice on waterproof boots, because I have hot, sweaty feet. It makes more sense for me to buy boots with maximum venting, not give a shit about puddles, layer my socks, and change them often.

There's lots of brands and options. You need to figure out what you want and need in a boot.

Yeah actually, I'll lump in with Merrell, keep in mind these all start around $170. Start adding things like CSA and Goretex and you're easily into $300+, hence why boot care is so important.
I ruined some Magums this year by soaking them and then getting lazy after work.

That's why I rock the $60 Baffins from Marks, you can get them wet and put them away wet and it's no problem at all. Although I'm probably going to get a pair of Dunlops soon (the $275 ones) and Bama socks like everyone else told me to.

BTW, if you're looking for boots for your SO my girlfriend likes these YSL suede boots but I'm pretty sure they're like $2500 and a pipe dream.

On the cheaper end girls might like something like this or this (which I might actually get her for her birthday).

Took these guys almost a full week to send me my RMA# and instructions. Got the RMA last night, dropped the shoes of at UPS this morning.

Not impressed considering they're probably going to wait until they recieve the return before they send me the proper boots. Plus the fact they ship to Canada on Thursdays, I'll probably have to wait until next Thursday before my boots even ship.

Kinda surprised you couldn't just find a local buyer for them, AnthonyG, given how cheap they were.

Thankfully mine came in the correct sizes, and I'm pretty happy. I wasn't expecting ski boot style ankle support, these will certainly do just fine. They're the first boots I've bought for airsoft, and they're waaaay more comfy than the hiking boots I've been using.

Unfortunately they're 1 size too small for me, but will definitely buy some more of the correct size if the occasion presents itself

The soles rubber is effectively incredibly sticky, not unlike climbing shoes (and I heard their climbing shoes were well received amongst climbers)

Can't complain about $60 boots. I am glad I don't have to game in my Merrell's!
Their CS were quick and answered sizing questions. I wear extra wide and the valor can accommodate EE with their standard frame, for those doubting.

Took them out today, and sprinted in them too.

Applied two coats of suede/boot protector I got from Canadian Tire, previously.

Really light I must say, almost feel like I'm wearing my converses. Will need to wear them a bit more, but so far I am quite pleased and impressed. $29 USD, not bad.
