Updates, again(is that the sound of runaway money in the background?)
I've replaced the stock controls now with the Nova Stainless items, the only thing thats left is stock mag release(which I am keeping), and stock slide catch(which I am waiting to go home and get my Nine-Ball one from ILLusion). And I've also replaced the Tanio-Koba grip with the SD Real Pistol. I am not too impressed with the grip from a fit standpoint. The magcatch sticks quite a bit right now, and it does not like the Nova beavertail. I had to work it a lot with a file to get it to fit and it still sticks a bit now. And it doesn't feel as good as the TK grip. But it does look awesome. Only part I am waiting for now is a black magwell from ProG4. As a sidenote, I've lost all the pix I got in the last 4 month due to a catastrophic failure of my HDD. The HDD is replaced under warranty, but the data is gone...so in effect these pix are the only pix I have of my guns since I moved to US at the moment.... |

That looks pretty close to my current build - same stainless controls - I have the black STI magwell (Airsoft Surgeon version, with the 2-tone cut in it.)
My kit is serial CL 05 Just waiting on the gold oxidized AET barrel... mehehehe. I definitely like the look of the SD pistol grip, though. Matches MUCH better. |

That hybrid barrel looks awesome with it.
Here's where mine's at so far: Some work still needs to be done to the grip - it's not fitting well at the moment and I want to round out the mag well. RM, what recoil spring are you using? I installed the Airsoft Surgeon 140%, but it feels much heavier than the Guarder 150%. I'm not getting a full blowback cycle on each shot either. The slide won't lock back. I'll see what happens when I swap down to a Guarder 150%. |

and finally it comes out, Brian's own SV...
I am currently using the Guarder spring, and I am also not getting full cycle out of the slide. It CAN do it, but I basically have to give it a generous amount of silicone oil on the slide, the spring guide, and basically all the moving parts....It shoots plenty hard, just not locking back on empty..... How is your front sarration lining up with the frame? Mine is off by like 1-2mm with the slide sitting further forward...not sure whats the cause....and is your beavertail pinned? or is it just stuck? I think SD and Nova parts really don't like eachother....I had lots of trouble with my 1911 too with the SD barrel and Nova slide.... Last edited by RacingManiac; October 30th, 2008 at 00:36.. |

Did you have to modify the rail to allow your TLR-1 to fit?
I found the rail "notch" to be too thin for my TLR-2 and required modding. On another note, I've already destroyed my slide. The walls that push the chamber forward got bashed to sh!t in less than 3 mags of firing. I was using a ProG4 one-piece stainless steel outer barrel and an Airsoft Surgeon 140% spring. For 140%, that spring is incredibly strong - much stronger than a Guarder 150%. I think that may have been the cause. Anyways, the barrel doesn't return to battery properly now and the slide over runs the chamber. Makes the slide useless... ugh. I'll have to find a solution similar to Carl's with the barrel bushing that allows the slide to engage and "pull" the outer barrel forward. Prior to the destruction, I was also having a hard time getting it to lock back. I could get it to lock back on the first couple of shots, but not on the latter shots. Movement was friction-free... so I'm not sure what the problem was. The stroke was definitely ending early. Unfortunately, the slide was damaged prior to me being able to swap the stock recoil spring in to see if that would solve the problems. My front serration is lining up perfectly with the frame. I had to do a bit of filing to the mid-frame to allow my Nova beavertail to install properly. Last edited by ILLusion; November 13th, 2008 at 02:55.. |

If you notice in my TLR-1 pic the allan screw on the leftside is missing, because I took the notch on the light out(it is removable). It is now just clamped on.
I do notice some deformation on that area of the slide behind the chamber. SD's slide that portion is a lot beefier than the AS one. I do think though runnin the Hybrid barrel helps me in that regard since it now acts somewhat as a stop from slide overtravel. My lock-back is not reliable. It can lockback on a fresh-ish fill mag but definitely not near the end. No issue feeding or shooting just not locking back everytime. It also doesn't seem to do it on the last shot, it sometimes does it one shot after the last BB... Still no idea why mine sits forward of the frame a little bit. But it seems to be doing this since my first iteration of this gun... |

well, barring some unforeseen impulse buy, I think I'll call this one as done....My black magwell came today....good time to start focus on the other one, as well as get some more practice in with this one...
