agreed. liberal or conservative, no one wants to be pro-gun when it comes to an election...Pro gun is fine, so long as the soccer mom thinks its a hunting rifle used by bush people....but as soon as the image of one of our guns get in her head....bamo, there goes votes and thats all that matters to MPs.

No, I found the information online....somewhere.....buggered if I can find it now though. It detailed their use of .22g bb's in the tests...which set of the " WTF" alarms. I'll poke around more to see if I can find that info.

I remember hearing about those tests, were they not Maruzen 0.22g or was that Western Arms?

From what I remember they didn't specify make...and I've never actually seen any .22g bb's...anywhere. I've no idea why they wouldn't use the standard .20g unless it provided numbers that were not what supported their theories. While WA does have .22...they are not common ( as i've said..I've never seen .22g bb's before ) back in the day when the test were done ( 98-99?) I don't see them as being popular either.

Ahh, after a little looking around it seems only WA makes (made?) 0.22g BB's so maybe I just assumed that's what was used in that report but who knows honestly.

Online petitions are really a waste of time as they take zero effort, thus merit no action.

PAL is for real firearms and should not, and can not include airsoft. If they wanted to create a new and simple AIRSOFT licence so be it. Maybe all persons purchasing and using airsoft guns should have to carry a licence but once again the issue of no serial numbers voids the validity of the entire system with the only benifit being the government would still make a buck.

ASC has already done it's best with the 18+ rule. Other than that there is not much that will come through this site. It'd be nice to stick together and all that jazz but noone here can really agree on much of anything so as mentioned previously any real results (if any) will come from individual action.

Well i think the airsoft license would at least control who gets the guns (basically a formal gov't based and legal age verification system), we aren't trying to register them like real firearms, where they have to be registered for safety purposes. What really f#$^n bugs me is the fact air rifles and pistols are perfectly legal and available to anyone over 18, and yet airsot, which is arguably less lethal is being shut down. The most harm you can do to someone with an airsoft gun (other than give them a small welt) is hitting them with it, and if that is the scare then we should ban hammers, big sticks, bottles, rocks, hands, feet, cars, elbows, heads, knees, and furniture. Seems retarded to ban something because of the way it looks.

/rant

sorry that post was almost useless, but i had to get that off my chest.

Totally agree, what would a PAL or any licence system that the government could throw at us accomplish? beside making more money off our asses... ASC has been as responsible and official as it can be with maintaining a no b/s 18+ rule, backed up and run by age reps all over the country. Take that to the Gov't if it would do anything to show that all of the newspaper incidents, are not perpetrated by members of our ASC community.

WHY would the government wish to bother with an "airsoft only" licence. Why does anyone think they would want to go through the time and effort to create such a system for such a minority? The PAL is THERE.....the system is IN PLACE and would require minimal effort to include "airsoft" as a licenced type.

The 18+ rule looks great but means FA really.....how many minors have bought guns since that rule has been put in place. Enforced by ASC age reps......what credentials do we have to enforce anything? Our title is based member recommendations. There is little accountability or controls on age verifiers. It's like...red muzzles on guns, it looks like something is being done to make it more "safe" in the eyes of society and yet it does NOTHING.

The government is seeking control and accountability from the community. The PAL would provide both. Thinking the government would set up a system just for us is nieve and unrealistic.

Um, I think a lot of people misunderstand the PAL license. It does not regrister your fire-arms to you, you have to keep a SEPARATE piece of documentation for that WITH the gun at all times. The PAL merely permits one to "Possess" and "Acquire" Hence P.A.L. "Possession and Acquisition License." See, we would be licensed to Acquire new airsoft rifles, and possess the ones we already have. Nothing to do with Registry! Registry only uses the PAL license number to you as an identifier for the proper registered person of regristry document that you have to keep. Its like using your Drivers license as ID!

I don't think it should just cover airsoft, why not propose a BB branch? That way they can get BB guns of all kinds out of the hands of minors who are the ones Soccer moms are scared for, and the ones that are using them illy.

Also, making this classification would open up channels for police to deal with people who are using these air-rifles/pistols of all kinds unsafely. For instance, lil billy wants a bb gun for christmas, but his dad is afraid he'll put his eye out. Finally after long bouts of what nots, daddy uses his PAL to acquire a bb gun for his kid. Kid shoots out his eye out, daddy is left their in shit because SOMEONE had to get that kid the gun. OR, it opens up more grounds for police to go after retailers who sell to minors knowingly. Because, now it'd be like Cigarettes and you'd have to show proper documentation to purchase the damn things!

What does everyone think is so hard about the PAL? You take a test! Its all multiple choice and then a practical test. It takes a weekend! At the end of it, you laugh and think what idiots there must be out there to need this stuff! But there are idiots, and there are lots of them, and they seem to be breeding like jack rabbits.
