The 2 notches spin the BB in a similar manner to the Marui one... except instead of contacting the BB on one point at the top, it spins it at two points adjacent to the centre. It keeps the BB more stable this way. If you can get a finger in there to feel it, the nubs are very flexible. It would obstruct the BB as much as the original nub would. |

The only downside to using real grip panels, is that you lose the weight inserts. The weight of your pistol would be dramatically lighter. |

Why is that?

Those are rubberized and weighted. They are as heavy as the TM stock grip...
Works well if you are doing a MEU type build, but they don't look as nice as some custom wood grip...I probably would have tried to stick with Pachmayr grip if they come in magwell cut(straight cut rather than chamfered bottom) for my SFA, but they don't... |

I noticed you used a hi-capa outer barrel and chamber in a TM 1911a1 base. How did you do that? Is the baristo chamber also for the 1911 or was the whole component specifically made for the 5.1 but you somehow fit it into your 1911?

The barrels are interchangable between Hi-Capa and 1911, but you just need to have proper support for each. SD made a straight barrel to use with their bushing system for Hi-Capa. I just used that barrel with the PDI compensator kit.....I just want to run a steel barrel. That particular setup does not exist anymore on my 1911.

What do you mean by support? A lot of the chmabers by SD are described to exclusively fit the 5.1. There is only 1 (maybe 2?) chambers that specifically say they are 5.1 and 1911 compatible.

Support as in bushing or bull, full length spring guide or plug.
The 5.1 chamber works, SD apparently had 2 threading though for their outer barrel, and my Barsto somehow does not thread into the straight barrel for 1911. They do however, makes a straight barrel for 5.1, and if you do you can fit that barrel to 1911 no problem... Awesome. I'll probably end up waiting until my nova outer barrel is busted before considering any sort of upgrade, but thanks for that info. What's with Redwolf selling an outer barrel for the 1911 in addition to the 5.1 if they're the same?

Not sure why SD made the distinction, RW is just following SD's product label...
