Piston heads and rate of fire.
Hey everyone,
So for the first time (apart from a long time ago with a stock TM) I have a matched piston head, cylinder head, and cylinder all at the same time. SystemA silent head set and a systema N-B cylinder. I have a marked increase in rate of fire as compared to before, running a normal Systema cylinder, G&G (or G&P, not sure)cylinder head (special type for using standard V2s on an SR25), and a MASK piston head. Has anyone else ever had an increase or decrease in rate of fire due to changing out air seal components, such as piston heads and cylinders?

airseal components don't affect the ROF at all.
You probably changed the shimming or something in the process(shims fell out? or did you reshim it?) |

I suppose in theory if you had a massive air leak you would could notice an increase in ROF. Has your fps lowered or shown large fluctuations between shots?
EDIT: The reason being that if you had no resistance for the piston (no air pressure in the cylinder) the spring would expand faster and allow the gun to return to battery faster. On the other hand... That wouldn't effect the rate at which your motor is spinning and pulling your gears... so no. Probably wouldn't increase RoF in practice. EDIT2: ON THE OTHER HAND... Again... If you had resistance from the piston head in the cylindar when the spring is being compressed... you could add strain to the gear set and slow your RoF...

No chrony on hand, but it doesn't seem to be reduced airseal though (did compression tests, everything was a-ok).
I will diagnose what went on. Don't believe any shims fell out though.

If you upgraded to a ventilated piston head versus and unventilated head, then yes, it's possible to increase ROF.
