Minimum Safe Distances?
I purchased a TSD L96 brand new which shoots over 400fps out of the box. At the same time I purchased a Tac Force M11 that shoots mid 300fps out to 30-40 feet. Basically inside 30-40 I shoot my Mac11, is this considered a safe distance? Are "mercy" rules the usual and accepted, meaning if I offer mercy am I most likely gonna get spun and blasted? Just trying to learn the ways of the local samurai ya know.

Mercy rules are for close quarters (within 10 feet) with regular weapons. There are no mercy rules with sniping. That's what mimimum distances are for. I won't pretend to know what they are, as I'm no sniper and have nowhere near enough experience to be able to be trusted in a sniper role with a hot gun. Being a sniper is a lot about knowing when you can or can't take a shot safely, even if you have a perfect shot opportunity.

Generally mercy rules are 10 feet but thats more of a standard than what EV|ERY game plays. The game host decides what the mercy rules are, if any. And usually mercy rules are only for when you have someone dead to rights, not JUST if your within the range and just call it out. Yes the chance is there that if you mercy someone, they will just light you up, thats when you go to the game ref. and explain the situation to them.
With bolt actions though, if your new to the sport, its recommended that you NOT use it in a game. Wait until you get more experience and people will feel comfortable with having you operate a bolt action. Some places wont even let you use it unless you are a certified BA operator. |
